Wow!

These lanterns are SUPER bright! They all come with a short charging cable. All you would need is a powerbank (to charge) and you are set to go camping or any other outdoor activity. Tested and battery will light the lantern for almost 8 hours. These are flexible too - you can remove the rechargable batteries and put in regular ones if that is what you have on hand. I put one in each of my cars as part of my emergency kit. Awesome buy and I would buy these again in a minute.

Non-standard rechargeable battery

Update: Lousy battery life, even with Alkaline. Returning it for something that lasts longer. These do not use standard 18650 batteries, they are 4mm taller (before the button-top). They barely fit in my universal battery charger, and standard 18650s are too short to fit (securely/reliably) in the lantern. A battery company that uses off-spec batteries… not encouraging. I bought these specifically because they (appeared to, battery-compartment claims to, and some said they) use 18650s. I have numerous devices that take the ‘same’ batteries: the intention being that I would have sufficient supply to keep ‘refilling’ the lanterns during an extended outage/outing. So much for that… Pros: Numerous hanging/magnet-sticking/carrying/aiming options; compact; lightweight; bright; rugged-looking; inexpensive; decent value for indoor(/fair-weather) short-term usage. Cons: Using the fully-recharged included 18650 battery: lantern mode lasted just under 2 hours. Off-spec battery; not even “rain-resistant”; ‘night-vision’ (red) flashing-only options; shouldn’t have to cycle through all the flashing red-light options just to turn off the flashlight feature (long-press Off preferred). Next Version, Suggestions: Work/come with standard 18650s (flat- and button-top; preferably two, higher-capacity, for extra longevity); water-resistant (minimum IPX4-rated); “rugged” design; non-flashing night-vision (directed- not broad-beam) option; flashlight-switch options: white/red, steady/pulse; brightness settings on lantern/flashlight-modes (to save battery). I would be willing to pay a little more if they offered just a little more. You are 90% of the way to an exceptional collapsible lantern. Try again, please. Eveready/Energizer: Where are your-Branded 18650 batteries? I would trust them to be the capacity you say they are. I have yet to find a high-capacity 18650 on Amazon that carries as much juice as they claim. Be the first, be the best, sell a ton.

Bright. USB rechargeable

Never again to replace batteries twice a year. No parts to fall off, dropping the batteries at a most inconvenient moment. No more pealing the duct tape off of the part that falls off to replace the batteries. USB rechargeable! I have enough gizmos that charge via USB, I have cables, chargers, and backup rechargers galore. Rechargeable is good, but not having to take batteries out to recharge them is better. Plug the device in; when light turns green, unplug. I no longer need a flashlight to find the batteries I hadn't put back in the lantern. It comes with a really short USB cable that I've tucked away in my electronics drawer on the off chance I lose every other USB cable in the house. Bright enough to read by. Lantern turns on automatically when opened. Several ways to hang it up. A button switches between a flashlight and two red modes, one flashing SOS, the other flashing fast enough to make my eyes hurt. A steady red would be better. Compact and fairly light, making it quite useful for a go bag. Large enough that it won't slip to the bottom and make one empty the bag to find it. Yes, there is the option to use AA batteries. But I'm more likely to carry around another USB recharger than a pack of batteries. Should I end up in a situation where there is no way to recharge, and someone conveniently has AA batteries, I have that option. You never know.

Absolutely perfect

I saw these on television and thought they would be a good idea to have around the house in case of a power outage. They definitely are a great buy and product. The versatility is wonderful. When my power went out they were exactly what I needed. The lantern was bright, the flash light feature was equally bright and the magnet on the bottom came in handy when I used it to stick the light to my refrigerator to light up my kitchen. There's also a hook on the bottom, if you need to hang it. I can't say enough good things about it.

Excellent product

I had purchased 8 of these to use during blackouts in Ukraine, and they have proven to be excellent sources of light. The idea to use a standard 18650 Li-ion battery is very commendable, the only drawback is that the supplied battery is slightly longer than most standard 18650 batteries and may not fit any charger.

USB Rechargeable Power Option and Versatile Uses

The lanterns have a single,1500 mAh, 3.7V, 18650 rechargeable lithium battery - (not an Energizer rechargeable battery). Also, the instructions indicate that only the battery that ships with the device can be used. The number of recharge cycles is not given. An indicator led is red while charging and turns green when the battery is fully charged. If the included 18" usb cable is connected to a 12V car battery for example, this would provide 300 lumens of ambient light for more than the 2 hours suggested, and also power the flashing red light longer. In addition, the lanterns do not have an IPX4 rating for exposure to water, so they should be used inside a car in wet weather. The three magnets on the base, do securely hold the lantern to a steel surface.

Great buy

Definitely as advertised; lantern is definitely an advantage in the dark in the bathroom during power outage and 100% better than a flashlight which is also on these lanterns. Easy to hold with handles.
