Good customer support
Ordered one and didn’t use it for 10 months until I got the rest of my engraving tools. Opened the box to find out it didn’t revolve perfectly. Told them and they replaced it even though it was so long since I bought it. Great product, excellent customer service! Even got to keep the old one and fixed it by drilling up to a 1/2” hole directly in the bottom and untighten the hex screw that holds it together.

Newbie to engraving
There was a single spot of resistance that it would almost rub and create some resistance when spinning the top. I could not figure out how to take the vise apart for a a closer look or to sand that spot down... But when I was finicking around with a screwdriver and hammer, I smacked it good at that area where I could feel it was tighter just enough to spread it apart. So now it freely spins all the way around with no resistance. Being new to engraving, I am ready to spend $100's to get going in the hobby, but not $1000's. This was absolutely worth it! Would buy again! If money was no option, go for top-shelf stuff but I can see this lasting me a very long time as this is just a hobby I'm new to.

Good for the money but needs work.
This is a good deal for the money, but it does need some work before it is ready to use. As others have said the three holes in the vise jaws vary in size, location, and depth. The attatchments that come with it are largely useless due to the poor fit caused by these holes. I fixed mine by drilling out these holes using a sharp 5/16" end mill in a milling machine. The jaws are not easy to drill, and might have a casehardening treatment. They did cut with a HSS mill, but it took a bit of effort. While I was doing this I also cleaned up the top and face of the jaws. A few hours work left a useful vise. The attatchments can not be used without modification now of course, but it is easy to make new pins and accessories if you have some basic machining capability. In short, this is a good value if you have some machining capabilities, or know someone who can help you out. If not, I would look elsewhere.

good for silversmiths starting out...
First, yes, it's from China which bugged me. Especially right now But I need one, and I'm not selling enough yet to afford the GRS. Note that the parts in the photo may not be arranged the same in the product photo. That's because the small pegs at the back slipped down into the hollow case. I had to empty the case and use a probe and tweezers to get the three "floaters" out of the base. I suggest arranging the parts as shown in the photo. Vise spins freely without being too loose. Parts do fit in the base, if a bit snug. I had a set of the actual GRS accessories I got from a retiring jeweler (he'd already sold the vise) I'd bought cheap, anticipating I'd get one eventually. Those fit even better than the accessories that came with the Vevor, so the problem is the stock they're using being a hair off size-wise. I can live with that. My goal is in a year or two (or three) to get the GRS and sell this set to another Smith who needs parts but still isn't making bank, to pass it along. Overall happy with my purchase. Best of luck to the A4's!

Great budget vise
I’ve never owned a GRS vise, but I can’t imagine it being much better than this one. Spins smooth, the accessories fit properly, and it holds work pieces securely. I’m pretty sure this came out of the same factory as the GRS vise. Even has a spot cut out where the GRS logo would go. Great budget alternative to an expensive vise.

$650 vs. $150?
I gave this 4 stars. If I had paid $650 for it, I'd give it one star. For the price, I can put up with the wonkiness of the attachments. I'd be interested to find out if the GRS attachments would fit this (The GRS attachments cost $150 alone, but are probably well machined). As other reviewers mentioned, some of the pins are a little wobbly and don't fit in the holes snugly. But hell, for $150, I'm glad I bought it. This is one of those "You get what you paid for" deals.

Own grs standard and this one. The differences are insignificantly small.
i purchased this vise prob 3 days after i bought the official grs tools one. i debated which to get bc in my exp with tools, it's better to buy the more quality one thats more expensive than to buy the cheaper one twice or threee times... But when i ordered from grs they said it was on backorder and it would take a month and a half to get it. turns out it took almost 3 months to show up. meanwhile i got this one for way less price and honestly it's almost just as good. i would suggest start with this one. cuz your gona want the acccessories that it comes with, i didnt get that with the grs, and you can use the acccesories on this one and the grs, but not the other.. the grs came with two adjustment tools and fit a little better but not enought to make a difference.also the finish is being worn away by my hand from turning it, which hasnt happened wth the grs. so the finish is slightly better but its alost polished patina look, doesn't look that bad and doesnt efffect the vice performance. ive also bought the microscope from vevor and it's also good quality and better price. if your trying to decide, dont waste ur money on grs at least as far as the vise goes. imo

Great generic if you do not have money for GRS brand.
The vise itself is sturdy, nicely weighted. It feels well made and durable considering it's $300-$700 cheaper than the well known GRS brand. If you can afford the GRS, get it. But if you are a starving artist like me, it is well worth the savings. The attachments aren't perfect but work. The main jaw attachment is designed in such a way that it twists off if not careful. The one side only has one peg so it rotates the jaw piece but it can be worked with. I have set 2 rings with it thus far and I'm pleased. Obviously I don't know what I'm missing not having a GRS but I have found being happy with what you have makes a huge difference in your attitude overall. I would purchase this brand over other generics mostly bc they are more established.
