Quality product
Well made , durable, a new product Let’s see if it does as well as Bosch 1274 dvs sander, I love the clamp down design. A bit on the heavy side to handle yet I think that we’ll save sandpaper in the long run. Well done Triton !! Brian 50 yrs contracting.

A very useful Sander
I purchased this sander with one specific project that required several curved components to match up to each other. I used this sander to quickly remove stock using an 80 grit belt to achieve a perfect match. Using 220 grit belt finished off most of the remaining sanding and made the final hand sanding much easier and quicker. Since completion of the project I have used it on several other projects that required larger amount of stock removal then is reasonable for a palm sander. Belts are easy to change and track pretty well although keeping the section where the track adjustment is located clean seems to be a requirement on this particular sander. Also, the three inch width worked well for me. I am glad I didn't get a sander with a four inch belt as it is limiting on the radius of any curves.

Ultra Heavy-Duty Wow
Updated 3/7/2023- For the last few years, this machine has proven its worth- powerful, easy to control, durable, and you can get a variety of 3x21 sanding belts from different manufacturers. Takes off as much, or as little stock as you find necessary. Very accurate tracking too, once you get a feel for it. I bought a second one and got it today, it needed some adjustment of the rotating front handle locking lever, done with a 3 mm hex wrench. Also, the picture shows the green neon power light on the handle, but my new one didn’t have that. No big deal. If this new one proves as durable, and powerful as the first one I got, I’ll be more than happy. Original post: I had a $20 belt sander that I got 25 years ago, and it served me very well until now. So my use case is occasional sanding of hardwood table tops. The Triton is ultra powerful and heavy-duty, build quality excellent, all operating features (belt replacement, belt tracking, lock-on button, variable speed selection, etc. ) work perfectly and are very intuitive and easy to use. Very dust free if you attach the dust bag, ultra dust free if you use a shop vac adapted to it. Very well balanced and ergonomic. Now the most important feature- power. This machine has guts, very powerful, tracks very accurately, and removes stock in the hardest of wood of course depending on the grit of belt you use. For example, I start with Mirka 60 grit, and work down to 120 grit on glue lines for a jointed table top in African Padauk. Carefully moving the machine at a speed of 4 out of 6(top speed), it easily flatens the wood very effectively and quickly. Use Mirka. I will update this review after using for a few months, reporting on durability. Wow, I’m glad I replaced that $20 belt sander with this! Much more of a professional tool, even given my use case(s).

Can't Hear the Explosions - I'm Using My Triton
This thing is a beast. Heavy, powerful - and LOUD. Seriously loud. Ear drum rupture loud. Like 100 db loud. Unnecessarily loud. But if you don't need your hearing, this is the belt sander to get. I particularly like the table mounting hardware (included). I'm using it that way until I can get/build an edge sander (with double hearing protection). The adustable handle and grip are very comfortable. It's a very nice, powerful tool that performs superbly - just waaay too LOUD.

excellent sander
Looks like a locomotive, runs like a locomotive. Powerful, well built. I especially like the tension release handle for changing the belts. Weight is good (not light by any means) - no need to press down just let the weight of the sander do the job. Belt tracking has been very good so far (1 week use on a deck refinishing job). Use lower speed with grits 80 or under to avoid removing too much matrial too fast. Suggestion for improvement: the cord comes straight out of the handle and has a tendancy to catch on the workpiece and supports - next model have it come out at 45 or 90 degrees away from the operator.

Eats Belts
Very nice machine, but trying to sand down a project it heats up the belts and they come apart. The only way it does not overheat the belt is the lowest speed and very light sanding. I think this is hit or miss, I should have returned it within the time period, but thought I was doing something wrong, no it did not matter. Tried too many different ways of using this sander and if used to sand wood the belt comes apart due to heat and the glue joint of the belt melts.

Heavy Duty Beast
I bought this to remove chain saw marks from log surfaces. It is an awsome tool! Heavy and removes deep chain marks fairly easy and quickly. New belts install quickly and adjust easily. I have no other sanders of this class to compare it too, but I know I really like it and enjoy using it.

the sanding frame works well, it lets you sand the work piece a little at a time, good price

60 feet deck by 8 feet
This was purchased to sand my deck which is 60x8 in the front and 42x6 on the side and 50x8 in the back. Then i have 15 steps going to the garage with 2 landings as well. This Triton belt sander is an excellent product, very sturdy and very easy to use. The only issue i have with this product is the dust collector bag as it has a plastic zipper and it should have had a metal zipper as you empty the bag fairly often depending on its use of course. I was blown away on the quicknest of the delivery of this item, within 2 days I was sanding. The service is well above any service that i had to have with other companies. If I could give this company Normand Tools a 10 star rating I definetly would and would highly recommend them to all my friends and acquaitances.

Longer and Heavier than I expected.
While this is a powerful sander, it's quite long and limits mobility in some situations. It's also quite heavy, making one handed or edge sanding very tiresome. I have two 3-1/2 hp Triton Routers, and love them, and their work station converts a circular saw and router to table mode. The belt sander is a bit of a let down, in that it cost 4 x as much and I could buy a new one every few years. My cheap $79.99 Craftsman lasted me over 30 years. So while the Triton is a tank, and will no doubt out live me, it's length and weight are price I paid for brute horsepower and durability. So, I would recommend it so long as you can pick up and judge. I could only order online so, it was a bit of a gamble. That all said, I think it was a good purchase.

Works well but may not last as long as you would like
This sander is perfect for my construction projects and is exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately, the first one I bought broke down just after the warranty period ended(so it may be worth while buying an extended warranty). When I did the math, I recognized that the costs of sending the sander in to be fixed and getting back a repaired used sander made little sense. I ended up buying an identical new sander--exactly the same model.

Very nice belt sander
I’ve got a cheap Craftsman belt sander but it really is not very effective. Belt tracking is so-so and it is quite slow in sanding, so I decided to upgrade to the Triton, which had good reviews in a couple of tool test articles. I’ve only used it briefly but I was quite impressed with its speed of substrate removal. So far I’m impressed with this sander, which is also quite competitively priced, as well.
