Works good
I loaded 2 SSDs onto the card after configuring for RIAD 1 (mirror). I left the SATA settings as they were if I was adding a single 2.5" drive. This worked flawlessly. The server had seen the RAID array without any issues. I was able to load the OS and software just fine. I would recommend this product.

Conversion for VS2400CD DAW
Worked once we remembered where pin 1 was (it's been a few years); just in case you don't know, make sure pin 1 on the ribbon cable is lined up with pin 1 on the card (the cable has a red stripe to indicate where pin 1 is). Anyway, worked right away and recognized the 120G SSD we installed. The unit is a lot quieter now as the original HD was the old noisy whirring kind. Kind of important to have some quiet when recording.

Perfect for HDD Upgrade in original Xbox
The pin headers make for an awkward hot swap, but it still worked just fine. The jumper selector is easy to read and swap from space to master. Couldn't be happier.

If you are considering this for an external JBOD drive setup, READ THIS!
To save people the trouble and frustration I thought I'd share my experience regarding this adapter and JBOD (Just A Bunch Of Disks) mode: I was looking for a 2.5" dual M.2 drive single SATA adapter for my two identical 1 TB drives that offered JBOD to have a single enclosure in my external bay/dock setup to pop in for backups instead of having two separate 2.5" SATA enclosures. From the description I read and the research I did I thought this was possible. This one part is key though from their description: "The SSD adapter also supports non-RAID operation (JBOD) when paired with a port-multiplying SATA controller, so both drives can be used independently of one another". Remember that for later. Since I was using current (2019 and newer) external bays/docks/cases and a 2018 Mac Mini, I assumed that this port multiplying SATA controller technology would be part of it. Incorrect. When I received the adapter, I installed the M.2 drives, did the jumper settings, and popped it into my external dual USB bay. Up came one drive on the screen. Confused, I looked at Disk Utility, which also only showed one. Thinking I made a mistake with the jumper process, I tried again, same result. Thinking maybe my dual bay was incompatible somehow, I tried my external USB enclosure. Same thing. I thought I had to format the drives and do a special setup in Disk Utility. That wasn't it either. At this point I thought I had a defective unit, and started checking more carefully the reviews. A number of people mentioned the same issue; other RAID modes worked fine, but JBOD didn't for them. As a test, I configured the jumpers to RAID 1. Lo and behold, that came up fine and a short test using Carbon Copy Cloner worked. To eliminate the last possible issue being a macOS incompatibility, I connected the adapter externally to a W10 laptop with the JBOD setup. Same thing, only seeing one drive. I went to StarTech's site and did a Live Chat with a tech support rep. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Explaining my situation, he clarified to me that these multiple SATA controllers exist on the unit housing the adapter itself: whether it be the internal connection of a computer, or an external docking bay or enclosure/case. As long as you have a semi recent computer, doing a direct internal install will be fine, with the computer having the proper multiple controllers. This is however not the case with the external ones, they are built with a single controller, either per case/enclosure or per slot in a docking bay. They can and only will be able to interpret one drive. While the StarTech adapter and ones like it does allow RAID setups because it essentially translates the drives into a single one the computer sees, it can't do the same to be compatible to show two separate drives. So for my situation, I will have to be returning this adapter as it doesn't serve my needs. 5 stars because technically the adapter did everything it was supposed to do, but -1 off because this explanation and clarification of JBOD and how it only works in internal setups and can't in normal external ones would and should have been added to the description. I hope this helps someone out. NOTE: If you DO want a true dual M.2 drive adapter that is JBOD compatible, StarTech does sell one in a case/enclosure form for $76 where the internals contain two SATA controllers: the StarTech Dual-Slot Hard Drive Enclosure for M.2 SATA SSDs (SM22BU31C3R): https://www.amazon.com/USB-3-1-SSD-Enclosure-Aluminum/dp/B06W9L34YC/

Works on original XBOX
Bummed my first one was dead on arrival but the second works as expected. Having the pigtailed power connector is a snug fit but will tuck away in XBOX. Packaging is more assuring than some competitiors as it comes inside a box with instructions compared to some less expensive adapters that only arrive in an esd bag and no instruction. Only been using it for a few days but working great so far with a 2tb Seagate barracuda drive.

Very welcome solution!
I have an old (Haha... old in computer terms, but if it tried to go out and buy a beer, that would be a no-go) computer that I have to use to run an embroidery program. It is PATA motherboard and this little device helped me to at least upgrade my hard drives. It connects easily and works great and most of all, it solves the problem of trying to find PATA hard drives.

An excellent bridge between vintage and modern
This is hands down one of the finest IDE to SATA adapters I’ve ever used. Primarily, it is being used in a late 90’s Dell Dimension desktop and is fully compatible. One of the most beneficial aspects is that the master/slave IDE identifier works flawlessly as my machine has the DVD and SSD on the same cable. Simply set the jumper on the board, and it works perfectly. I can also confirm that it is fully MAC compatible. I have another StarTech board in a 2002 iMac G4 and had no issues. Can also confirm this will function for legacy drive cloning. Have plugged in a 90’s HDD to it and in turn connected to the internal SATA port of my desktop running Windows 11. After a fresh boot, the modern cloning software recognized the old drive and ported the data quickly to the new one.

Not robust enough
I was using this device in a modded original XBOX, and despite initially being pleased with the converter and feeling like it was an improvement over what I'd bought before, I started experiencing issues with booting the console. It's likely that the converter itself had no part in causing the problem, but as I went through the process of troubleshooting, it became necessary to connect, disconnect, and reconnect several different SATA drives to the console using this converter. Unfortunately, during the process the pins of the converter became bent at both ends (see photo), and whilst this could be me being too rough, the fact remains that IDE connections are quite stiff and a certain amount of pressure must be applied to ensure a firm connection. I also hasten to add that I have other styles of converters, none of which have never become damaged despite going through the same processes and more besides. As such, it is my opinion that this converter - although it looks and feels to be of a decent quality - simply isn't robust enough for the task at hand. I'd suggest that if you only need to connect it once and you never need to touch it again, it will probably work just fine, but frankly I'd suggest you look elsewhere.

Warning! Check your Drive types
Despite this claiming to fit M-Key NVME drives that is actually incorrect. I bought this wishing to expand my mobo onboard 2 slots of NVME to add an additional. I read through the listing to ensure it fitted the correct type of drive I had and was delighted to see that it did. However upon receiving it it was clear it did not and someone had mixed up their key types in the listing. Just to make clear, this will only suit the the B-Key Sata drives and not the M-Key NVME drives that it’s claims it does. I’m sure it works fine otherwise but a review of the listing is needed.

Worked Perfectly in my OG Xbox
So I bought 2 of these adapters to go inside my 2 original xbox consoles. I ordered 2 different ones on here and they didn't work very well, I was advised to get this one. I am so glad I did, these have made the performance much better with my new IDE cable and 2tb SATA hard drive. I did cut the piggy back Molex cable off as it wasn't necessary. So that's all I didn't like about this product. Everything else is perfect. I do definitely recommend this to anyone looking to upgrade their Classic Xboxes Hard Drive

Does the Job
I purchased the dual M.2 (SATA) Drive. I have two M.2 SATA 500GB drives that I wanted to add to my desktop PC. My SSD drives are M+B key (this device works on both M+B key and B key but not M key). Fitting is straight forward as it fits into a 2.5 inch drive bay and uses SATA power and data cables as expected. Once booted I only had to format the drives and then allocate a drive letter. I wanted these two drives in RAID 0 and that occurred by default. It's just as fast as when they were on my laptop in RAID 0. Very pleased with purchase but I do think it was a bit pricey for what it is.

StarTech IDE to SATA Hard Drive Adapter works in 2007 Fostex MR16
I am stunned to say it worked first time. I took the WD400BB 40GB 7200rpm IDE hard disk drive out of my 2007 Fostex MR16HD/CD Portastudio, because traditional disk drives are so so so noisy, I fitted a GIGABYTE 120GB SSD SATA III solid state drive which is silent and three times the size of my old drive, powered the portastudio on whilst holding the stop button so that it did not try to load anything from the new SSD and it went straight into "do you want to format the disk", I selected yes, it formatted very quickly and loaded a blank Song 01, I recorded some Roland TR8 and played it back from tracks 1 & 2. Plugged the Fostex USB into my Mac, selected USB mode on the Fostex, and my Mac recognised it as a 120GB drive ready to import songs. Unbelievable, it just worked. The adaptor feels a little fragile so I gently pressed the cables onto the adaptor little by little, using a cloth to not touch any circuitry.
