try another brand

tape seems dry and has poor adhesive qualities. hard to peel off the roll easily.

Blue tape

I mean, its blue & sticks to things. I think that pretty much meats the requirements for blue tape.

Scotts - Use the original, knock offs aren't as good.

I tried a knock off available on Amazon, it was clear that it was a knock off and adhesion was poor. I bought Scotts. It was great, adhesion was on point. This was used for painting and when the knockoff sagged, Scotts held and made it easy to paint without worry. Would not do anything but Scotts going forward.

not as good as FROG TAPE

FROG TAPE is better. Sticks to almost any surface. Have not found a surface that I've used Frog Tape on in my workshop or home that Frog Tape has not securely adhered to. There is NO paint bleed-through or problems with curling edges. I'm going back to ALL FROG TAPE. Does not pay to explore other brands. Keep on FROGGING and all will be as promised.

Not as clean as others, but good enough for most projects

I find that Frog Tape is easier to remove, and leaves a cleaner edge, however for surfaces where that does not matter as much, this a less expensive alternative. I bought this for masking rough surfaces, and metal surfaces where the stronger adhesion is an advantage, and edge does not need to be as clean since the surface is not even to begin with.
