BEST painting tape

Absolute best tape to use to tape off baseboards, trim, etc—worth the money to get this tape as when you remove the tape comes off easily and does not remove paint. We used this tape to protect our baseboards and trim when we painted our home and wouldn’t use any other tape. Highly recommend.

exactly what it says

I didn't pay attention to the adhesion of this and it is exactly as it is advertised.. It is very light adhesion. probably good for something that is very delicate.

However, does NOT work for watercolor

I bought this tape to use to hold down my WATERCOLOR paper because a previous reviewer said that it worked well. Perhaps they are using a cheap watercolor paper, Canson level or below. I use Arches and this tape does not hold its seal or keep the paper stable. (I will continue to use "Blue Painters Tape Washi Paper - No Residue Masking Tape" https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08DJ3YTNW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for taping edges and masking straight lines.) This tape is perfect for making removable labels, and so I am happy with my purchase and will use the entire roll I am sure. I am giving this tape a five star review because it is a perfect tape as marketed, for delicate surfaces when using acrylic or wall paint.

First use not great

The first time that I used these tape it was on some acrylic craft paint (fully dry and cured) and the paint did pull up some spots of paint. I'll reserve full judgement until I try it again on some different finishes.

The Perfect Masking Tape for Delicate Surfaces

I used this masking tape at various stages of a hobby build project of a Brian May Red Special guitar. This required the oak fretboard to be painted and I used Plasti-Kote gloss black aerosol based paint and masked off the bare mahogany wood of the main part of the neck with this blue 3M tape. I also used it when applying the delicate 0.6 mm thick marquetry veneer to the guitar body and to mask off the inner cavities of the guitar. I chose the delicate surface version to minimise the risk of ripping out parts of the wood grain. I'm pleased to say that this didn't happen so the tape did its job as advertised. I also used it again when fretting the guitar and when lacquering parts of the stained, unpainted surface.

Best tape for painting on watercolour paper

I'm using this tape to do a clean endge on my mixed-media paintings which are done on watercolour paper. It works wonderful. The edge is sharp, no paint goes under. The paint sticks well but doesn't tear paper when pulled off. Great product! Really recommend this for artists.

No damage to underlying paint even after 3 years

I used this tape to stick a few posters on a wall with a fragile white paint. I just removed the posters after 3 years. There was no damage whatsoever to the underlying paint. There was no trace of it on the tape itself. It's as if the tape had never been there. I highly recommend this tape for the purposes of sticking (lightweight) things to walls without damaging the paint.

The Best Low Tack Tape

The best low tack tape I have found, now a lilac colour not blue. Easy to tear and apply. It leaves a nice sharp edge to the paint. Removal is easy and does not damage the existing paint or wood work. Note that this is a 55m long roll of tape, not the usual 41m long roll sold by competitor brands. As usual Scotch 3M products are not cheap, but you get what you pay for and in my opinion good value for money. I will buy again

Perfect for what i need

Very useful tape, hard to find in the shops for some reason! But glad I can get it on Amazon. I like it as it's easy to see, doesn't leave marks and goes the job the designed for. I've used it with acrylics, wax and watercolour and it's worked great each time.
