Worked as a "cake topper"
My son loves Gary and we celebrated his 13th birthday in Cancun, so I needed a Gary I could quickly add to a cake. I chose to put it on the side, because of the fruits on the cake, but he still LOVES IT.

Cute item! Looks nice in the tank. It is plastic with a matte finish. It is *not* shiny as in the photo. It's also a little larger than I expected.

Super cute but...
It is incredibly cute, but after only a couple of weeks, the paint is peeling. This was too expensive not to last longer.

Hey Gary, when did you get so fast?
If you are a fan of Gary, then this is a must have decorative item. I bought this for my studio as a big fan of Gary's simple but profound wisdom. He may just be a pet snail, but he seems to know the deal. This item is meant for fish tanks, but it's large enough for a shelf or desktop at work. He's lightweight and is as colorful as the pic notes. Meow, Gary!

Horrible Quality
I received my first one and thought maybe it was defective because after 2 days his eyes started peeling, Amazon sent me another one for free without return and this one lasted 3 weeks and looks like this now , horrible paint job, and possibly hazardous to fishes once paint flakes

Paint isn't that great, but OK from a distance.
Pros: Gary Cons: Paint isn't smooth and glossy at all like the photos, and is a bit thin in places. Lots of mold marks. Shell markings aren't very well painted, I think one of the ten spots was actually painted decently within the lines.
