Amazing for cooking meat and veggies

At the time of writing this grill set was $32.99 I love BBQing. I try to do it as much as possible. Seeing this item for review made me very happy and excited. I've never had a chance to use something like this before, so I am more than happy to review it. First off, I seasoned it. I put it in my smoker two full times before I used it so that I can "break it In". This will make it more non stick and easier to use. I put peppers, potatoes, and slices of onions on there and used it like a wok. For the most part, nothing stuck. I was very happy about this. Nothing worse than cleaning cooked on surfaces. I haven't been able to use a wood plank yet. I haven't been able to find anything that will fit specifically, in town. I will have to order one online from Outset. I've heard good things about them. There's definitely some discoloration. There's going to be heat damage and smoke damage. I was already prepared for this. Be prepared to lose the pretty stainless steel look after a few uses. I don't see a maximum temperature for this grill grid. I had it inside my cook box at 600f for 10 minutes with no issues. Nothing I've thrown at it so far seems to bother it. Over all very happy with this, and I will be using it as much as possible this summer.

Is it dishwasher safe or not?

This is supposed to be made of stainless steel and I've never seen stainless steel meant for anything food related not be safe for the dishwasher. The product listing says top rack dishwasher safe, but the actual product packaging itself says hand wash and towel dry only. Never mind that this would take up half the top rack in the dashwasher I suppose it's safe to say you should expect to be hand washing this though if you have a Bosch washer (which don't use heating elements on the bottom to dry or anything) it should be fine to put on the bottom rack in that case. Ideally there shouldn't really be any dishwasher limitations on something like this... a big part of grilling is not having to clean up as much afterwards. The grid/platform itself seems well enough made, it's not super thick but it's thick enough that it doesn't bend easily and would hold just about anything you'd want to cook on it perfectly fine. The design is well thought through with the handles on each side being a decent size that picking it up with gloved hands won't be a big problem and there is a lip on all 4 sides of the plank area but only three sides - not the front - of the grid area to make using a spatula to flip things while cooking easy while keeping the stuff in the grid on the other sides. The size seems to be good for any sides you're cooking without completely taking over the grill leaving plenty of room for the meats.

Good cedar plank holder to grill fish on my BBQ

I used to grill my fish on a cedar plank directly on my BBQ grill, but even if let the cedar plank soak in water for more than 15 minutes before grilling my fish, it tends to bend, and it starts to burn after 15 minutes of cooking. With this plank holder, the cedar plank is not directly exposed to fire, thus it remains wet for a longer period of time, and is less likely to burn as rapidly. It can hold a cedar plank of 12" x 5.5", which is good for a small family. The section beside is large enough for grilling skewers or vegetables, it measures 12" x 10". The handles on each side make it easy to carry; however, they become very hot after cooking. It's easy to clean manually with the same stainless-steel cleaner and recurring pad as I use for my stainless-steel pot. I recommend it for cooking fish on a cedar plank.

A very good, quality product for fish, kabobs, vegetables, etc. on my grill

The Outset large stainless steel cedar plank holder and grid grill topper, is designed for foods that would fall through the grill grate such as kabobs, asparagus, broccoli, cut up potatoes, mushrooms and onions. The Outset grill grid is made from mid weight stainless steel that has raised side handles for easy removal. It’s awesome to use when cooking vegetables or fish. I sprayed with oil before using and to ensure that food doesn’t stick. I found this grill heats and cooks my food uniformly. Perfect size holes to allow halibut grease to fall through and is heavy enough to heat up without warping. This holds a 12” x 6” plank which isn’t included. It says to hand wash so I used a magic eraser which took any black marks off the bottom. Overall a very good, quality product for fish, kabobs, vegetables, etc. on my grill.

Great design, gilling veggies and salmon lightly smoked, side by side.

The grill grid and cedar plank holder is made of high-quality stainless steel, which ensures that it will last for many grilling seasons to come. My husband is an avid BBQer and loves to grill and smoke our meats. When using a cedar plank, you’ll want to soak the plank in water for at least an hour. Then place the soaked plank in the holder over direct medium heat and close the lid. After 5 to 10 minutes, the plank will begin to smoke. That’s when you want to add your Salmon or whatever you are grilling. I can almost taste it! Although the cedar planks are not included, it's important to note that this holder fits planks up to 12” x 6”. The dimensions of the grill grid and cedar plank holder are 12.25" x 17.5".
