This cap may not fit your needs.

The cap itself is fine. It just does not do what I wanted, which was to replace a fuel tank cap on a small engine. I searched using the B&S part number, and this came up. It is too small. It fits one spare gas can, but no fuel tank. Be careful purchasing on line. I do not know how to rate the cap. If it does what you need it is an adequate product.

Gasket not included

I was hoping this would have an accompanied gasket/oring/seal to keep the gas in the lawnmower from evaporating, no luck. Product did fit.

It's just a Gasoline Cap. But it works.

I was repairing a Craftsman Lawnmower for someone and it would start and run for 5-8 minutes and stop. Then it wouldn't restart until is sat a while. I cleaned the carburetor and verified spark. I fix lots of engines and this one was a puzzler. I finally noticed the Gas Cap on the Mower had no venting and thought, I bet that is the issue. Started it with a loose Gas Cap and it ran great. So I ordered this Gas Cap and the problem is solved. Cap fit and function is good. Put in on a 6HP Briggs vertical shaft engine. Thanks.

Great replacement for broken cap

I bought this to replace a broken Fresh Start cap on my Craftsman 6.5 hp mower. It’s too soon to speak to durability but the cap was a perfect fit and I was able to tighten it securely on the tank.

Perfect fit for 2008 Craftsman lawnmower

This is the perfect replacement for the original fuel cap on my 2008 Craftsman (Husqvarna made) lawnmower. The engine is a Briggs &Stratton with a fuel cap that could originally accomodate a fuel preserving stabiliser capsule. Simply use premium fuel without Ethanol and you should never have bad fuel issues. The only thing i am missing is the small plastic cord that prevented the fuel cap from falling on the ground when refueling my lawnmower. For under 10$, this is a great replacement fuel cap. It was very hard to find it locally in the big box stores. *Update November 2022, before storing the lawnmower for the winter, I realized that the fuel cap inner gasket came undone from the cap. Fuel cap wouldn’t be leak proof anymore. There was no way to place ghe gasket back where it should go, trust me, i tried very hard. After contacting the seller, they FULLY stand behind their product and send me a replacement cap. Don’t hesitate to buy from this seller, they are trustworthy*.

fits great

My mother phoned me up all upset. She was cutting the grass and lost her gas cap. I am 5 hours away so I had her measure the opening for me. She has a craftsman mower but I think the engine is a B&S. I found this cap, ordered it and had it sent to her. She got it 2 days later (that is pretty amazing considering where she is located). The cap fits perfectly and she is now very happy and thinks I am a genius.

Oaky but be aware

yes, it fits the Briggs and Stratton 6.5 hp engine on my craftsman lawn mower, however the aluminum disk in the cap is not well secured, I feel it might fall into the gas tank anytime and I will never be able to take it out. Very poor product design. I would rather pay $10 more just for peace of mind.
