Great comfortable ear plugs that do the job. Protect your hearing its something you won't regret.

These are nothing new to me, I used something like these while shooting in the military couple with a headset while practicing. These however were easier to form and fit very well. when expanded it cut noise almost completely out and did the job I needed them too. I used them as a trial basis for sleep and they did help along with new masks. I have severe insomnia and sometimes have to take three different med to keep put me to sleep and keep me asleep, not to mention stopping the extreme movement in my sleep. The movement was stopped with the proper meds but the sleep meds never seem to completely do the trick so I follow all sleep habits to help. This was one I haven't tried along with the mask and thought it was worth trying. With the Eyesnug and these together, I was able to cut out the little remaining light in the room and any slight ambient noise. Although it did not stop me from waking in the night, there were fewer instances and I did feel more rested this morning not counting the slight after effects of the sleep meds. This could be a fluke but the these are great ear plugs and I would recommend them for anyone around heavy equipment or even just mowing the yard or operating loud tools. Their comfortable and a great asset to your hearing. Don't take it for granted use them. I have lost hearing in my left ear from gunfire and explosives in my left ear and it probably would have been worse if I didn't use something like this when I was training. You might have two ears but with loss of range in one ear it effects being able to tell direction of sound so please if you need a good ear plug buy these or something close to it. If you purchase ear plugs look at the decibel rating to get the ones you need and if you need more pay the extra money for noise cancelling or headset to go in conjunction with these. You won't regret it.

Great ear plugs

[update 2/9/2011] After I sent a message to the retailer (Coast to Coast Safety) asking how to go about getting a refund because I felt the earplugs were faulty, I was promptly contacted by representatives from both Coast to Coast Safety and Moldex (the manufacturer). It was apparent that they were *very* concerned about the performance of their product considering that it is intended for protection. Coast to Coast immediately pulled all inventory that came from the same batch as soon as I was able to furnish them with the lot number from my package. After a few short phone calls with Moldex, they replaced my box of earplugs with one from a different lot. They had me return the box to their QC department and they paid for all shipping costs. The second box of earplugs worked as advertised. I would purchase this product again and I wouldn't hesitate to order from Coast to Coast Safety nor Moldex. The earplugs themselves are about 1/8" longer than Hearos, so have a better chance of sticking out a tiny bit from your ear. With that in mind, you might find Hearos more comfortable for sleeping or you can just remove the extra length with a quick swipe of some scissors. [original review] I use ear plugs all of the time - every night when sleeping to drown out city noises and occasionally when going out to night clubs to protect my hearing. The ear plugs in the box I received barely block sound at all - I can clearly hear most frequencies through them, such as the fan from my air cleaner. I tried a different pair of ear plugs that I have lying around just to make sure; those blocked out most frequencies and lowered the sound level just as I would expect from 33dB ear plugs. I also noticed that the texture is different from other brands I've used in the past - the outer part that seals the ear canal seems almost porous (though I'm not sure that this has anything to do with the poor performance of this product). I will be returning these.

This is the ear plug you want. It is critical that you have an ear plug that can extend to seal the ear canal almost to the ear drum. This is the only plug that is long enough to fit me and I believe most guys. Remember, you MUST preroll the plug AND pull your ear forward for proper insertion. Check the foam ear plugs you wear now by inspecting the shape when you first remove them. You should see the end of the ear plug has necked down to a smaller diameter. This indicates that they have been inserted far enough, otherwise your ear plugs are not long enough. These are the only foam ear plugs I have found that provide maximum protection for all body/ear sizes.

Spouse's snoring keeping you awake - but these immediately!

I read somewhere that ear plugs can save your marriage and thought what a joke. Though that might seem hyperbolic, I can tell you that NOT being able to sleep because the person next to you snores leads to folks sleeping apart, tired and angry partners and resentment! No matter how much you love your significant other, I believe that sleep deprivation often leads to more issues. For me, after buying these and trying them out for a few weeks, I can tell you that I am sleeping longer and more deeply than I have in my entire married life. They are comfortable but did start to bug me after I wore them for eight hours every night... but I got used to it. A little itchy/irritated ear in the morning was well worth the sound sleep I was getting at night. One thing to consider if using for nighttime sleep like I do - it doesn't block ALL sounds but you will definitely notice that it blocks most household noise including the snoring mentioned above. However, you won't hear the kids down the hall unless they are calling for you loudly. This is where your snoring spouse would have to be alert for kids or other noises downstairs etc. Other than that, I can imagine multiple uses for these plugs. I'm sure we could use these while mowing the lawn or using loud instruments/machines or anything where you want to reduce/eliminate some of the sounds around you. I now carry a bunch of these while I travel as well - they are individually packed in pairs so it is extremely convenient! Great purchase and thank you, Amazon, for carrying such a great product at a great price and for saving my marriage!

Very Good For Loud Noises, Okay For Sleeping

Overall good, but not excellent. I like how the plugs are individually wrapped - this makes transportation (if required) very easy and convenient. However, the plugs are a bit harsher than the Stanley laser light (pink and yellow) that I normally use (although the spark plugs are a bit cheaper): they hurt the ears a bit (or at least, are less comfortable than the Stanley/Laser Lights) and do not block out as much noise (although almost as much - but there is a noticeable difference in comparison to the Stanley). As a shift worker, I use those plugs for sleeping. Despite the nice colours of the plugs and the seducing presentation of the packaging and the box they come in, the plugs are very good for regular noise cancelling, but only "okay", at best, for shift workers.

Works better than advertised.

Live in a questionable neighborhood. First night using these earplugs I had a break-in. Lost a lot of belongings but not a second of sleep. Woke up refreshed, and then depressed.

Great comfortable earplugs at a great value

These are perfect for reducing the background noise from computer fans in one of my server farms and great at helping reduce the noise of construction going on in my area. Super easy to put in, very comfortable and don't fall out at all like a lot of other brands. Being individually packed means I can always have a few of these on me if needed which is great. Even very comfortable to sleep in, can barely notice them.

Best ear plugs I've ever used.

Very comfortable fit. Reduces noise to a very comfortable level of quiet. I use these for sleeping as I am a very light sleeper. These don't block out all sound but will reduce sound to a very hard to hear level of quiet. They block my ears from hearing my family snoring as well as bad weather outside, yet I can still hear my alarms go off in the morning.
