You get what you pay for. But they work.

They're OK. They installed easily enough, but were a bit of a pain to get set/adjusted correctly. If you've installed a set of cantilever brakes before, you shouldn't have too much trouble. If I had it to do over, I might spring for better brakes. They have adequate stopping power, but, meh.

Not like the picture

They seem well enough made, but they are an older design. What's missing are the spring tension adjustment screws on each arm, as shown in the original Amazon illustration. They lack these set screws, which means they will constantly end up with one side rubbing the rim or the other with no real way to permanently fix it. Dissapointing.

Cheap set that does the job

These did the job for me. I replaced the cantilever brakes on an older mountain bike with these because the springs and washers were worn. They are a real pain to set up properly, but that has a lot more to do with cantilever brakes in general and less to do with this set in particular. If you're looking to get an old bike safely back on the road or trail, this set is a good choice. You certainly can't beat the price.

exactly what the doctor ordered.

I have had my Trek mountain bike for 23+ years, and the brakes have always been crap. These are exactly what I needed to replace the faulty Shimano Altus brakes that had the problem with the plastic spring cups cracking. They installed quickly and easily, although the fine adjustment could be better. Perfect for the price.

Great for the everyday user.

Cheap and does the job. Comes with all the hardware and including screws and brake pads. Nothing great, and nothing bad, but it'll suit your needs if you are just pedaling around town, on paved trails, and such. It does not come with instructions, but just youtube it and it'll be easy enough to install. It comes in plastic bags.

Not as shown in listing. No adjustment screw, low QC

The cantilever brake kit comes with enough components to do the front and rear of a bicycle. Includes 4 mounting bolts and 4 pads. The listing shows an adjustment screw for the spring tension. The actual item doesn't come with it. QC should be better. One of the bolts did not have a hole for the cable to pass through. Plan on utilizing some of the old hardware to make this kit functional.

excellent brakes and great price.

These are great brakes and the price can't be beat. Don't listen to negative reviews. They do exactly what they need to do if you install them correctly. Learn how to properly adjust the and true your wheel and they will work fine. Don't overpay for expensive brakes when these get the job done.

These brakes are good for the price

These brakes are good for the price, I did end up stripping one bolt and had to swap it out with one from the worn out set of cantilever brakes I was taking off. So be careful when you tighten the pads into place. Other than that, they work great.
