Use distilled water!

This is a powerful humidifier! I wanted something with a larger tank than what I had previously and got this on a deal. Pros: price is better than similar sizes with the filter, especially when you get it on a deal. Size is great, on the lowest dial setting, it runs for about 36 hours before turning off. It's filled from the top so you don't have to flip the container over and make a mess when refilling: just remove the lid and pour. My plants definitely appreciate the increase in humidity and I'm not so stuffy/congested. I run it on an appliance timer to run for 12 hours at night so the water tank lasts longer and I don't have to remember to turn it off and on everyday. It's quiet, nearly silent, even running on the highest setting with no audible bubbling or gurgling noises like others. Cons: I don't know that the "filter" does much, it's really just a little sponge. I have hard water from the tap and thought using pitcher-filtered tap water would be enough to save the dust... It was NOT! One tank of filtered tap water spread a thick layer of white mineral dust completely everywhere. Lesson learned: use distilled water, which does not leave any visible white dust. It is a larger unit than some due to the tank size, but it's sleek and white, so not an eyesore being in the middle of a room. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this unit, even more so if you pair it with an appliance timer if you don't plan to run it 24/7.

Simple and Reliable

The humidifier works well for the bedroom plus a little for the rest of the house. It is very simple to rinse out, clean and refill. Using reverse osmosis water daily keeps away any build up of residue. I turn it on at night so the light is helpful to verify operation. There is an internal plastic tube that sometimes becomes dislodged when replacing the water filled top unit and will prevent operation, thus the lighted test before turning to non-lighted mode for sleeping. There is no noise whatsoever. I set in on a glass table about 16 inches off the carpet and do not find any dampness on or below the unit. My environment is very dry (usually less than 25% humidity) so this is a great unit for better sleeping. I would recommend this for any small dry space and am quite pleased with its operation.

We Went With The Classic 200 4L Model Instead

This is our second LEVOIT humidifier. Our first one was great, but we recently loaned it to a friend who needed a humidifier for her sick puppy, but she accidently broke it because she got water in the electronics when she moved it with water in the basin and obviously fried it. The issue has been addressed with newer models to make it difficult for water to enter the electronics. DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE CLASSIC 100 2.4L AND THE CLASSIC 200 4L MODELS I figure since we were buying a new humidifier why not upgrade however, I was on the fence about which size, so I purchased the Classic 100 2.4L model and the Classic 200 4L model. Both models have three settings, low, medium, and high. Basically, the differences between the two models aside from the obvious amount of water that can be stored in the basin is the fact that the Classic 100 2.4L model has a white LED light that lights up the colored water basin and the Classic 200 4L model allows individuals to use aroma therapy oil. Additionally, the Classic 200 4L model is marketed for larger rooms whereas the Classic 100 2.4L is marketed for slightly smaller rooms. As I mentioned we purchased and tried both models for one evening. Both models are perfectly quiet and both models visually expel the same amount of humidity cloud on high mode. The Classic 100 2.4L model only lasted a few hours on high mode whereas the Classic 200 4L model lasted about eight hours on high mode. WHY WE CHOSE THE SELECTED MODEL Our decision to purchase is not about a night light or the ability to diffuse aroma therapy oil. We chose the Classic 200 4L model because of run time and ability to put humidity back in the environment. Even if you have a smaller room, I suggest going with the Classic 200 4L model. You’re not going to notice the difference in humidity between the two models because they are small non-commercial humidifiers. You could check the humidity level with a humidity tester, but I surmise there will be little to no difference between the two models. The Classic 200 4L model will provide longer run time and you will be happier for taking this advice. I only suggest going with the Classic 100 2.4L model is if space is an issue. CLEANING Humidifiers do not smell! Like anything, clothes, dishes etc. you need to clean them. If you don’t, chances are they too will start to smell at some point. It’s a simple process to clean a humidifier. I put a couple drops of dish detergent in the water basin and put the lid back on and shake for a few moments, and then empty the soapy contents and rinse until all the soap suds are gone. I wipe down the water basin holder. NOTE: never submerge anything electrical in water because it’s dangerous especially if it is plugged in – so unplug when cleaning. Let everything dry and it will be ready for use when you come back to it. I clean our humidifier after each use because it only takes a few moments to clean it. If you feel a need to, follow the cleaning instructions that accompany the humidifier. Good Design

I was comparing different humidifier. I went with Levoit since I trust this brand. The design is perfect for filling water and emptying out the next day, which I do everyday. Cleaning is much easier than the “cute” shape humidifiers out there. I wanted a unit that perform abd easy to clean since mold and mildew can build up in these machines. This one is perfect on both. Operates quietly, no harsh bright light, all parts are reachable for cleaning.

Best humidifier I've ever owned and even better customer support!

This is such a great humidifier. I've struggled in the past to find a humidifier that was effective & easy to clean. This humidifier checks all of those boxes! Levoit Support is also great to work with. I had a small issue with my humidifier that I had to contact support about. Support went above and beyond to ensure that my issue was resolved. I will only be purchasing Levoit products moving forward!

Easy to Clean

Best humidifier I have had yet. Normally, I only keep humidifiers for a season because they're too difficult to clean and sterilize. This Levoit model is super easy to disassemble and wipe down. Because it's all white, you can see every bit of grime/mold so you'll know if it's clean or dirty immediately. It's also incredibly quiet.

Effective and Easy to Clean

My son gets nose bleeds in the winter and my mom also suffers from dryness. We put one of these the room and within a day it helped both of them. Even through it was small - it is quite effective. It’s also very quiet (no noise at all), super easy to clean and easy to refill. I had a bigger one which was a pain to fill up and clean - this one is way better.
