Solid

This is a solid and firm security lock that is way better than just a deadbolt lock. You can mount it anywhere on the door frame, thus mounting it high enough to keep small hands from opening it. This way your young child can't open the door. Most 2-3 year old children can easily open a deadbolt lock by turning the handle. Strongly recommend if you have a back door that opens to an area of high risk - a swimming pool, busy street, etc.

Quite a sturdy security door lock.

I got this security door lock for the door entering the attached garage. The instructions in the package are clear and easy to follow for installation. The installation is not complicated if you have a cordless drill to drill holes for the screws. The security door lock is straightforward to operate. Though it's a small door lock, it is pretty sturdy to hold the door firm against forced entering.

Easy installation. Great security measure.

I am always looking for things that help secure my house. I saw this on Amazon and asked to review it. This security door lock works on doors that swing into your house or room. You secure it to the door frame and a swinging latch on the lock goes in front of the door. The result is a very secure lock that is probably better than most dead bolts. The material says it would withstand a force up to 800 pounds. I don't know how accurate that is, but it would sustain a lot. To install it I used a pencil to make a mark on it showing me the approximate location I wanted to to put the lock. See photo. I then got a strip of masking tape to hold on the lock in place on the door frame. I opened the lock and then closed the door to get an idea if my measurements were accurate. My measurements were a little off, but not by much. I then drilled a pilot hole in the oblong hole. See photo. I put in a short screw and tigthened it up. I then shut the door and closed the lock. It fit pretty well. I needed a little adjustment so I loosened the pilot screw and moved the whole lock just a fraction of an inch. It then fit perfectly. I tightened the pilot screw. I then drilled 3 holes for my 3 inch screws. I put in the screws and it worked perfectly. The lock is really easy to use. I have put some pictures together showing how to unlock it. You just grab the lock's top and bottom and pull it to the left, or toward yourself. You then swing it open. It's simple but effective. This is an easy lock to install. It really makes the door secure. I did not use the screws they sent me because they are too short. Instead, I used 3 inch screws, which are long enough to secure them to the stud beyound the frame of the door and makes the lock very secure. I kept the short pilot screw in place.

The sturdy way to keep them out

Shut the door and lock it down with this! This internal lock is very sturdy! To use, slide the lock to the side, then the latch swings open so that the door may be opened. To lock it up, flip it back over and it slides back into place. It comes with the screws needed to install this into your door frame. The finish is modern, matte black metal, so it blends nicely with newer style door locks. I definitely like having this as an added security feature. You can choose to use this to secure your entry doors at night. After getting one and seeing how it works in real life, I decided to immediately order another for our other entry door. this thing is made of really solid metal, I don’t think it’s going anywhere, if installed properly.

Strong little lock.

This little lock is quite strong, well made. I got this so that my mom (who has Alzheimer's) can't go wandering outside when I'm not looking; and yes, it's happened. My only critique is that they should've included the photos on how to lock and unlock in the insert that comes with the lock. I kept pulling on the lock and couldn't get it opened but then figured it out. Once you know how to open the lock, it's easy. If you don't know, then it's really hard, which is the point.

Good option for added security

I thought this item was similar to what you found in hotels as an alternative to a chain lock. It actually is a bit more involved than that type of item. It is sturdy strong and appears to be a good option for added security. You do need a bit of space from the inside part of the door to the door frame. For me, once .i screwed it in and closer the door it created enough space. You do need to get used to unlocking it as it is a bit unorthodox. Overall its a good product and certainly would help with child proofing the door and providing some extra security.

Small but mighty! An additional layer of security

Small but mighty! This may be an item you graze over quite often in your recommended Amazon items because the when and where hasn't crossed your mind yet ... A man with a friendly smile knocks on the door. A VERY young girl aged four isn't home alone. Her father is helping her three year old sister with the potty. Mom is estranged. All of the doors are locked and Dad does anything and everything to keep them safe. The four year old giel unlocks the door AND OPENS IT. It's a man pretending to be from the gas company and is explaining what could happen if they don't let him inside their home so he can check and make sure their isn't a leak... Seriously that's all it takes! If you install these locks high on your door, where no stool, chair, or anything can get your child to even touching this lock (also they don't know how to open it... it's not made for small hands and tiny fingers to open up.) This reassures me that my nieces will not because they CANNOT open that door for anyone (those girls aged 3 and 4... that is my brother who is left to do the parenting on his own.) My brother was gifted these. I honestly thought he would scoff at them because they aren't these huge heavy locks- the power is in the design. He was actually very grateful. Ever since the start of the divorce he never wanted, his girls are starting to act out. I took the girls to the park and the youngest sprinted to the middle of a busy street. I have these on my mom's doors, my brother's, mine, and anyone else's who may have them over for even a few minutes. Young kids are curious and want to be grown ups in a world that is so cruel and nasty right now. The price point is great and these work VERY WELL! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
