Three years down. Still love it...
I've been using the Edge 830 for three years now. It has the usual Garmin learning curve and the capabilities it offers are more than enough for me. I use it for Gravel riding that occasionally touches semi-busy paved roads. I use the Varia UT800 headlight and the Varia RTL515 taillight/radar with it. Highly recommend all three, worth the money.

Delayed delivery by amazon. But product is amazing Garmin quality as usual.
Garmin products are made with the highest quality. The 830 garmin is a perfect bike computer with all the required functions of any avid cyclist from Power readings, weather updates, contacts updates and comms to simple recording of GPS position, speed and HR. Amazon shipping was delayed unfortunately.

Touch screen is a game changer
The 830 has a touchscreen and that makes all the difference when on a ride. Being able to access all the features quickly without button pushes and menu diving is essential. I had a 530 and found it tough to use while riding my mountain bike. One thing to remember is that the top left button locks the touch screen. I find this essential on rides of water of sweat is going to hit the screen. Otherwise, it works as expected for a bike computer. It syncs with all my apps (Strava, Trailforks, etc), and generally, just works. I have all sensors except power meters on all my bikes and it immediately recognized all of them. The only issue I’ve had is that I only notice that software needs to be upgraded when I’m out riding and I can’t connect to the network. This, I’ve been stuck on an older firmware for awhile, but it doesn’t effect my rides, so not a huge deal.. some day I’ll remember to upgrade from home, haha.

The 830 is the state of the art bike computer
If you are like me, you have looked at every GPS bike computer. The bottom line is that Garmin is the best and in my opinion the 830 is the best of their bike computers. You won't regret it. Yes I wish they would update to USB-C

Wanted to love this
First thing is that I recognize a lot of people love this model. I don’t, it's good, not great. I ride about 150 miles a week. I do about 75 on an E as a trainer and work out 75 miles on both a 'regular' mountain and road bike. I like to explore and ride in small groups in new locations on and off road. Ok, why the four stars? The unit feels technologically antiquated and not user friendly. The unit has far too many functions that most of us don't care about but clutter up and add more annoying layers. Personally, I want a cycling ONLY GPS that easy to work with, simple and not loaded with gizmos and extras. Furthermore, the dashboard, AKA Garmin Connect, is just 'OK’, not easy to follow and so many useless functions. GARMIN TIP: Allow to user to remove any/all unwanted items on both the Dashboard and the 830. They currently allow you to remove a few widgets. Lastly, the 830 pages get 'stuck' sometimes or can't locate the GPS. Solution is to reboot. Not pleasant. Also, I've had some issues with "return to start" and the unit comes back with a "you don't have this function" (paraphrase). On a positive note, the GPS has saved my butt a time or two so I give it 4 stars. I’m hoping that software updates will rectify this. p.s. The more you work on the 830, read the manual, and experiment, the easier it gets. Practice because you don’t want to learn this while you’re riding.

THE USUAL GARMIN QUALITY
I purchased the 830 for my communter/mountain bike. I have a 1030 for my road but didnt want to keep switching the unit between bikes and wanted a smaller unit without the bells and whistles. The selling point for the 830 is the color touch screen. The 530 has no touch screen. I had initially purchased the 130 but it was too small and black and white screen was difficult to see for me. (it has all the other bells and whistles). Although I didnt want the bells and whistles, I use the varia radar (a must for riding on the road) and it was more visible on the 830. So I took the bells and whistles as well, even though I dont need. Overall the unit is ostensible a smaller 1030. Th only issues are the blue tooth connections can be "wonky".(with all the devices). Sometimes they dont recognize my iPhone and you have to start a new connection. Then the old connection is still there, and the unit gets confused. Then you delete the old one and the new one doesnt work. A little frustrating when it occurs but thankfully not frequently. Many company's forgo quality at the expense of profit, but Garmin keeps offering a quality product. I hope this continues. Although I attempt to be "low tech" and stay off the phone addiction thing, I have purchased just about every Garmin product. (Fenix watch, S2 smart scale, rally power pedals, 1030, Varia radar-a must for cycling safety).

Reliable and accurate
This is my go to device for tracking my riding stats in real time. The map routing and tracking are superior to anything else I’ve tried.

Great improvement over the Edge 800
I replaced my ailing Edge 800 with an Edge 830. I’m pleased that the 830’s display is far more readable on my morning rides when the sun is low in the sky—a welcome improvement. Bootup, GPS acquisition time and battery life are improved, too. The internal maps are amazing. I’m surprised to see the detail of our local riding paths (not streets). One gripe: The main display shows distance, large and very readable, but speed is displayed in a much smaller font. With old eyes and vibration, it can be hard to read. There’s plenty of room on the display to make fonts larger. Why not? Operation is semi-intuitive but you can get lost among all the menus and widgets. The printed manual is no help as none of this is covered. Go on-line for complete descriptions. To find features that are buried deep in menus, search the internet… “Edge 830 [your desired feature].” The Garmin Connect phone app has lots of fancy features to encourage your riding activity such as earning “badges” for your progress. Here again, it’s easy to get lost among all the features and menus. The app connects via Bluetooth to the 830 during and after a ride. If you’re a gadget geek, you’ll love it. If not, you might consider a more basic model. For a very complete review and description of features, search the web for “dcrainmaker Edge 830.” This impartial review compares the 830 with other models and has many screen photos.

No complaints so far
Very happy with my 830 so far, battery life is amazing, screen is clear (only ridden with it in winter so far), and it paired fine with my phone and rear light. My only problem would be that I dislike the Garmin connect app

Nice bike computer
Generally a nicely done package, love the integration with the phone app and cloud storage via Garmin Connect. It's been really great for keeping track of my rides and where I have to focus to improve my fitness level. I also love the integration with Strava and Trailforks, pretty much seamless and it was invaluable when I went on a road trip to an unfamiliar area - finding the trails and trailheads was much easier. I went with the 830 over the 530 as some review sites suggested that the touch screen was a big improvement over the button-only operation of the 530. So far, works well, even when I'm wearing mountain bike gloves. I have a pair of gloves with rubberized fingertips for better grip on the brake levers, those don't work as well with the touch screen, so I have to use a thumb or baby finger. My biggest complaint is that the menu system could be set up to be more intuitive. Sometimes I find myself going through the menus over and over just to find a specific setting or stat, eventually finding it in an oddball place in the menu tree. Using the Connect app avoids this most of the time, but still would be nice to have this done better.

I like this for touring
I only use it for recording my bicycle tours for strava. The battery will last at least three days.

Great GPS Bike Computer
Love this latest Edge version that is replacing my Edge 520. Quite the upgrade. Huge improvement in performance, the device is snappy. Lots of options to customize the screens and the touchscreen is very responsive. I have had zero issues since I bought this in July and have put roughly 1500km on it, including a 265km solo ride with navigation. Battery life is great and I have it integrated with the following sensors: HRM TRI, 2INpower DM, Speed Sensor 2, Di2 and Varia RTL510. The profile and looks is also nice. Would highly recommend this device.
