Works pretty well for the most part
Been using this product for a few months. Works well for the most part. Only negative aspect of this product is that when the coffee is packed tight (not very tight, but somewhat tight), there isn't enough pressure to expel coffee. It just stops. You have to dump the coffee and redo it. But if you get the coffee packing right, works very well. Coffee tastes pretty good. I prefer the small footprint on my counter.

Good Bang for the Buck
Bought as a Christmas present for my husband and he wasn't impressed...at first. He's a bit snobby about his coffee and wasn't sure it make good espresso. Now, he uses it every day and sometimes twice a day. We love it!

Five years' worth of great espresso
I've had this DeLonghi espresso machine for five years, enjoying one or two espresso drinks every day (usually lattes or flat whites). It works as well today as the day I bought it in 2017. The de-scaling process is a bit of a chore. Descaling is infrequent enough that I forget how to initiate it. When the orange "descale me please" light comes on, I wind up Googling the necessary key presses to begin descaling. It's not complex! t's just too rarely needed to remember. Once begun, descaling is a noisy process ("onk onk onk onk onk onk...") and it takes a while to run the first reservoir full of diluted descaler mix plus two full plain-water reservoirs' worth of fluid through the machine ("...onk onk onk onk onk onk..."). But that's only a couple times a year, at the rate I make espresso drinks. I can put up with the occasional "onk onk onk onk onk" descaling session to get tasty lattes. I've enjoyed more than 2,000 lattes and flat whites and just plain espresso shots from it since 2017. I think the folks at DeLonghi have designed and built a fine machine. I see that about 8 percent of reviewers say their experience was more frustrating -- leaky machines or machines that failed just months after purchase. I don't doubt them. In my shopping on Amazon, I read customer reviews frequently, and It seems about one-out-of-twelve customers will wind up having a bad experience with just about any small household appliance. My experience is a happier one. I recommend the DeLonghi warmly. Enjoy!

3 Years in, Still Going Strong
I bought this little guy in 2018, and as I made my coffee this morning, I thought I should review it now that I've had plenty of experience using it. I chose this espresso machine based on the size, price, and functionality. I wanted a good latte, I didn't have a ton of counter space, and my sister had this one and liked it. Here are my thoughts 3 years in: Pros: - It's still working! I have had nothing break, need repair, or stop working in the 3 years I've been using this machine - I'm not exactly a coffee snob, but to me, this makes a great latte. Freshly ground beans, 2 shots, and 6 oz of barista blend oat milk is as good or better to me than what I can get at most coffee shops. - It's quick. I like the ritual of making a latte somewhat manually vs. using something like a Nespresso, but this is still quick enough that I can make one most mornings without it being too tedious. - It's nice looking. I like that it doesn't take up much space, and it looks attractive in our coffee bar area. Cons: - The on/off button has gotten jammed twice. It was easily and quickly fixed by sliding a butter knife into the crack between the button and the base. - A few times when I've bought ground espresso vs grinding my own, a single ground has gotten through the metal "mesh" screen and clogged the spot where the espresso drips down into the cup. As soon as I notice that it's not flowing as it should, I just stop the machine, pull the little metal screen off, and rinse with water until the ground breaks free. Easy fix and not a machine problem, but something to note. - It steams and froths very well, but to me, it doesn't seem to make the extremely fine microfoam that an upgraded machine can. That also might just be due to my choice of milk. Either way, it's not a big enough deal that I would ever switch because of it. If you're on the fence about this one, I say do it! I've been making lattes with it nearly every day for the last few years and it's working just like the day I bought it.

Caution before using
OK, I am not going to talk about the performance of the machine, the espresso it makes is plenty good for me, and I enjoy its speed of preparation and relative ease for getting rid of the grounds. Tjhis is actually my fourth Dedica by deLonghi. Issues, i have three major ones: 1. Do not put the ground holder in your dishwasher, I have a Bosch and after first wash the chrome came right off the holder plus I had to scrub the black sooty residue left by the dishwasher detergent (most likely cause of the problem) 2. I tried to use the descaler provided and followed the directions provided explicitly, unfortunately, the steam light which indicates the need for descaling did not go off, and that happened to two of my machines. 3. the reason I got so many machines besides having two separate residences, is that I used the plug provided to tamp down the espresso grounds into the holder. Big mistake, the pump labored and very little espresso came out and the machine was working for quite a while. Eventually one of the machines essentially died on me, it just did not seem to have any power. One day I was too busy to tamp down the grounds, and the machine worked perfectly and fast, that's when I realized that tamping down the grounds should be a NO NO. Unfortunately deLonghi does not say anything, then why provide a tampon to tamp down the grounds??? Anyhoo, the last machine works perfectly and I stopped using the tampon to tamp the grounds into the holder, when time comes to descale, I'll just pop some vinegar into the tank and run it through its paces, rinse well and live with the idiotic flashing steam indicator. bottom line I recommend the machine, but careful about placing the holder in a dishwasher, don't tamp the grounds, and ignore the stupid flashing steam indicator, just periodically run a few cups with water spiked with some white vinegar.

Makes a great espresso or cappuccino
I bought this unit to replace a Breville machine that had a plugged filter for which Breville would not supply a replacement part in Canada. I have used the De'Longhi EC680 Dedica for almost a month and I am really pleased with it. It is easy to program and customize. It makes great espresso with a nice crema. It foams milk really well creating a thick foam and makes a great cappuccino. It heats up quickly both for making espresso and steaming/foaming milk. We bought the chrome and black model as it was $100 cheaper and matched the stainless steel/black appliances we already have. It looks elegant on the counter. The unit is long and slim and takes up very little counter space. When I read the reviews they said that the power button sometimes fails. I have only used the power button once to turn on the machine as it turns off automatically and you can set the time to turn off, which is really great. I have only one complaint and that is the water tank is seated tightly and there is no handle to remove it, just a small space to put two fingers. This has resulted in me dropping it as I attempted to disengage it to refill it. Finally it has removable filters for cleaning (no more clogging!)

Gifted to my husband who LOVES cappuccinos. It's slim which is great for our limited counter top space and makes delicious cappuccinos and espressos. I got it in red - figure if it's going to live on my counter, it's got to have a cute vibe!

Highly recommended
This is a fantastic espresso machine, makes great coffees, esspresso, and cappuccinos. Foaming wand works great too. Easy clean up, nice accessory to our kitchen. Highly recommended, you'll love it.

Do Not Buy!
This machine does not seam to ever want to make a cup of Espresso properly the first time. I'm constantly hitting the brew button to get coffee to come out. After a while the water no longer came out and started pumping water into the actual unit then out of the buttons. It is overpriced Junk and there is way better out there.
