Issues with Monitor Returning from Power Save

UPDATE: The workaround below did not work for the machine entering sleep and after ~30 minutes of idle time. I still had to disconnect and reconnect the display to the dongle. The picture was great when it ran, but the issue was too annoying to justify keeping it. I bought this for an Asus G15 Laptop (2021). When the laptop turns the displays off or goes to sleep, the external monitor will not wake. This occurs 100% of the time if allowed to happen. At first, I believed this was a laptop issue wherein it powers down the USB hub and never checks again. However, I was able to narrow it down to this dongle itself. If I just unplug the display from the dongle and reconnect, it'll work. This means the dongle *is* getting power after waking and its not sending a signal to the display. Constantly disconnecting/reconnecting will prematurely wear the connectors on either the dongle or laptop itself and is not a solution. I've heard this occurs with certain chipsets used in dongles and this dongle appears to be affected. The dongle will refuse to send a signal until either reconnecting or fully powering down the laptop. A workaround is going to Device Manager and disabling power management on the USB hubs. This is bad for battery life but if you're using this for desktop work (which I with the external display), it shouldn't affect anything. Sleep and display off timers now work and wake the monitor correctly, but modifying software/hardware settings shouldn't really be necessary. There are dongles out there with unaffected chipsets that don't require the workaround.

Works with other docks as well

I use this with other docks which often require the third monitor to be plugged in through a usb-c interface. Like Dell D3000 or wd19tb. Works like a charm. Neat looking, good build and unobtrusive.

The least-bad one I've found

I've tried a good half dozen USB-C to DisplayPort cables and dongles. This one has been the last bad of them all at working with Apple Silicon Macs without flicker. It still flickers occasionally, but less bad than any of the others. 5-Star rating because this is an Apple problem not a problem with the adapter. Took a week to arrive in the UK, from Spain via Belgium, which was a bit odd.

Valido solo per prestazioni minime.

Prodotto complessivamente di buona fattura nei materiali e nel design sobrio. La connessione è efficace e sicura con un Macbook Pro M1 e il monitor esterno viene riconosciuto dopo pochi istanti. TUTTAVIA l'adattatore NON E' nello standard Displayport 1.2 come la descrizione lascia intendere o quantomeno NON supporta tutte le caratteristiche di questo standard. Come il supporto HDR. Testato in una catena che garantisce il flusso video a 10 bit, una volta inserito questo adattatore, il flusso cade a 8 bit. Specifico che ho acquistato un pezzo Warehouse COME NUOVO per cui non posso escludere che fosse difettoso l'esemplare inviatomi e che restituisco. Se però non si ha bisogno di HDR ma di una semplice connessione DP, credo si tratti di un buon adattatore.

Practico y funcional

Lo que necesitaba para conectar una pantalla al nuevo portatil. Se nota bien construido, conectar y ponerse a funcionar, mucho mejor que antes, ya que evito el parpadeo de la pantalla, ya que con el otro ordenador tenía que conectarlo con el cable VGA y ha variado mucho la señal y funcionalidad. Totalmente recomendable.

Perfetto per MBP 14 M1

Acquistato per collegare il mio nuovo MacBook Pro 14" M1 ai monitor presenti in ufficio che in dotazione hanno solo display Port. Piccolo, robusto, colore grigio simile a quello dei Mac fa il suo dovere. L'attacco USBc ha una entrata precisa e sicura nel Mac e non serve tanta forza per tirarlo via. Consigliato!

La verdad es que mi ordenador no tiene la puerta display port y la puerta hdmi solo transmite a 30Hz (1.0 o algo así). Con este adaptador puedo ver en mi monitor externo a 60 Hz. Encantado y recomiendo para quien disponga de usb-c y quiera ver de forma fluida en un monitor externo ya que DP permite frecuencias de refrescamiento superiores.
