low profile, well built

We bought a few of these vents for phase I of our basement remodel. These vents are low profile (great for ceilings) and don't attract attention to themselves. They blend in nicely with Sherwin-Williams Pure White paint. They arrived in good condition, open and close smoothly and the white matte paint finish is adequately applied. We'll buy more of these for phase II of our basement remodel.

Not for high traffic area.

I bought 6 of these and all of them work fine but the 1 I put in front of a sliding glass door seems to be bending down into the opening. It's very slight and I'm not sure if it will be a problem. The screws are holding it very well. All that I used in low or no traffic areas are fine.

Single best purchase I have ever made, life altering technology!

This air vent is brilliant, it is the single best thing I have ever bought. It has many great features, it's properly sized, it comes with sturdy mounting hardware.. but there's more! It's compatible with both cold and hot air, can be mounted in two different positions (front to back, or back to front) for optimal air flow, and the switch which allows for control of the vent's airflow is almost infinitely adjustable, allowing for just the right amount of airflow. I've never been so cool and comfortable during the summer and can't imagine just how perfectly warm and toast I'll be this winter (i"ll post a follow up review after some cold weather performance testing). As I said, this vent is absolutely magical, life changing, you won't be sorry you made this purchase!

ABSWWH2124 Sidewall/Ceiling Register with 2-Way Design, 12-Inch x 4-Inch(Duct Opening Measurements)

The one i received (12 x 4) measured 13 &1/8th inches from mounting hole to mounting hole. Make sure you measure the duct opening as well. This replaced an old register vent and it fit and worked well in my case. Your mileage/experience may vary! i had to patch the former screw holes because the ones in this vent were about an inch longer than the one i replaced, but ya can't see it anyway coz the patched holes are covered by the vent. In my case, the duct opening was exactly the same size as my old one was. I just had to make new mounting holes to fit this new one and screwed the vent on. It was pretty easy to do and i'm happy with the vent. Nice to pitch out the old paint-flaky, rusty, raggedy, decrepit 20 year old one. Looks so much better now.

Served me well

I just used this to direct vent air in a different direction. A plastic deflector would cost nearly as much, so why not just buy a new vent grille? Although I'm pretty sure that I ordered the right size, the screw holes on the new vent were a little further apart than on the existing vent. Everything else matched up perfectly. Unfortunately, this made it a little difficult to install, but I was able to angle the screws and carefully work them all of the way in, until the vent sat flush. I'm not sure which vent was off, but clearly one of them didn't match whatever standards hopefully exist. I do worry that the plastic slider to close the vent will break sooner than more traditional mechanisms, but the quality seems fine, otherwise.

Probably works for most

Alright so the item itself is fine. Material is great and the mechanisms work fine. Comes with everything you need to install it. My gripe? Is it's actually a little larger than I needed. It fits the vent, let me get that straight. It says to measure the hole of the vent so it fits right which makes perfect sense and it does fit. Thing is, the outside is bigger than my old one so it means I'll have to drill a new hole in my wall to accommodate this. Doesn't sound like a big deal but because the old house already had specific holes for the vent (like the vent had an outside with holes meant for the grill) I'll now have to make additional holes. Kind of a pain. I feel like there should be an accurate measurement for the vent and outside to make sure it fits ????

Serves the purpose.

Needed to replace several vent covers that were rusted and worn. These serve the purpose. They fit and look much better but the holes do not line up and the screws provided are too long.

Great value 8x6,white screw heads to match, metal construction accept adjustable lever

Great metal construction Easy to install, screws have whiteheads which match the exterior vent color ( kudos) usually this cheap they don't. measurements provided are accurate. The adjuster leaver is for the inside vent grill works perfect, no directional but I knew this as they do not advise

Well made and vent operates easily

Perfect fit for 3 basement air registers on the wall. Very sturdy which means the louvers operate easily once installed. Nice off white finish looked so good I didn't even need to paint them.
