GREAT for what it is marketed as-- a BATH toy.
There are a LOT of negative reviews for this toy based upon the fact that it might not be made from natural rubber and therefore MIGHT not be safe for babies to chew on, so I felt compelled to share my experience with it. I understand that babies (especially teething babies) tend to put EVERYTHING in their mouths, and I understand wanting to be sure that the toys they will be chewing on are made of safe materials. However, given that my son is exposed to this toy only at bath time, and only under adult supervision, I was not overly concerned about it, especially since I could find no evidence that the toy was made out of anything harmful. In fact that ended up being a moot point because although my son is 7 months, and chews on everything, he somehow doesn't find this toy pleasant to teethe on (yes, I let him try when he was playing with it). I will admit that this toy does have some flaws: If you are looking for it to float around in the tub neatly, it doesn't do that (unless partially filled with water). It's not for teething on, and it's not easy for very small babies to squirt by themselves. That being said, I still think this is a fantastic toy! So why do I think this toy merits a 5-star review, given all its flaws? Because it is by far the toy we play with the most at bathtime. I love filling it with water and squirting my son with it, and he always shrieks with giggles and tries to grab it and dunk it under water (it has the best squirting range of any of the bath toys we have). If it's on the other side of the tub, it's the toy he reaches for, and it's the one I play with myself when he's distracted. I believe that the intention of the toy is not just to give a baby something to entertain him(or her)self with at bath time, but to provide a fun toy that both parent and baby can enjoy playing with together. And it works. And for those who say it is "hard to squirt"- not if you know how! Simply grasp the toy by the colored part (most easily done by placing the toy between the pointer and middle fingers), and push up on the bottoms of Sophie's feet (with the thumb). It's well-designed in that capacity! I hope this review helps you :)

Don't expect a mini Sophie
Not a bad bath toy at all....just know what you are buying in comparison to the regular Sophie teether. The bath toy: -Half the size -The legs are all one piece instead of 4 individual pieces -The ring does not come off -The material is not as soft or flexible -Does not make any noise when you squeeze it -Even when not used as a squirt toy, water will get in and have to get squeezed out regularly My 5 month old son does like this toy though he gets a little frustrated after a while cause it isn't really a teether and he's used to being able to get one of Sophies legs into his mouth. I'm sure he'll like it even more once he's able to use it as a squirter which is what it actually is. All in all, it is still a good quality toy that I trust and would recommend it to others. UPDATE MARCH 2011: So, in trying to get the water out after a bath the other night, I squeezed Sophie's head and caused a slight tear around her mouth. Didn't think it was possible based on what I thought was great quality. I wont completely blame Sophie since It was actually me doing the squeezing but still. Oh well, we'll continue to use as is.

Soft and durable
My son loves it at bath time. Small enough for him to hold with his hands (he is 10 months old) and soft enough to chew. Just be sure to empty the water from the little giraffe. Otherwise it will create mold. Not too hard to empty it out.

baby approved
My 9 month old has had the original sophie for awhile and loves it. She didn't have any bath toys so I decided to get her sophie for the bath. She loves to chew on her and smile at her. The only thing is it took a little to get it to squirt. Once you figure it out and teach other bath givers no problem. You have to hold sophie like a syringe, two fingers over the inner tube and your thumb on the bottom on her feet. Only other thing is it was a lot smaller then I thought it would be. Its about half the height of the original sophie. It also comes in a cute little keep sake box like the original sophie did. Very happy with my purchase.

It’s cute but smaller than expected without the “squeak” kids love from the show!
I thought it would be taller, like a giraffe and the character in the show. I also expected it would squeak, like Sophie in the TV show.

We love Sophie!
We've got a soft Sophie and two teething Sophie's and have had these since my 7 mo old was born. If you've got one in your house too you know they never put em down! So we went ahead and added the bathtime version to his collection. It's a lot smaller than the others and doesn't float well like it seems it should and the water doesn't "spit" well out of the mouth so I find myself draining water out of it constantly (but you gotta do that w the rubber duckies too). At the end of the day my kid could care less about those things-- it's a sophie! And Sophie makes him smile so it's worth it

Sophie for Bath is great!
I bought this for my 8 mos. old daughter because I thought it was just too cute. I almost like it better than the original Sophie. My daughter really likes it and it's good for the bath. I also think it's a little easier for her to hold onto than the orginal, and I like how it bops along in the water. I got no stink from the box when I took her out and per the Vulli website it looks like she like the original is phlatalate free, [...]

Cute but just OK
My daughter loves her Vulli Sophie so I bought this bath toy expecting it to be a huge hit. She likes it OK. With the floatie around her waist, I assumed this Sophie would float in the tub. Not the case. The item is still cute and my daughter does play with it occassionally. Seems safe and is easy to drain water out. All babies are different so it might be 5 stars for another child.
