Microfiber material not as soft as it used to be.

Does anyone else notice that the microfiber material on this purse is not even close to feeling as soft as the material on the microfiber small backpack? The quilting on the microfiber backpacks that I purchased last year and in 2021 feels plush and supple and the material on this frannie crossbody feels scratchy. In short, the current material doesn't feel like it is even worth the sale price. I also am not a huge fan of the short strap not being removable but I'm mostly disappointed in the lower quality of the material. I hope they bring the original microfiber material back and use it on another small crossbody purse with two removable straps.

Limited organization

This is a cute, compact, structured bag with a shoulder strap and a detachable, adjustable crossbody strap, but it lacks the number one feature that I appreciate in Vera Bradley bags: organization. Inside, you'll find one gusseted slip pocket that can comfortably hold a smartphone in the horizontal position plus one zipped pocket in the lining. That's it: no exterior slip pocket for easy phone access nor additional compartments. Granted, given the small size of this purse, you may not be carrying enough to need a bunch of pockets, but I prefer to have a designated place for everything rather than items rattling around loose. This has adequate room for the quilted Vera Bradley Clip and Zip Pouch I use as my wallet, my phone, keys, inhaler, pill bottle, gum, and some pads and tampons, but it wouldn't accommodate too much more than that. I own another Vera Bradley bag in black microfiber, and this has the same soft texture and black and white print lining. I expect it will wash just as well, and the Franny Crossbody appears to be well constructed, with even stitching. I think this would have appealed to me a lot when I was in my teens and didn't need to carry much more than my wallet, keys, and feminine hygiene items, but even though it is a nice purse, the lack of thoughtful organizational touches means it isn't quite right for me at this stage of my life, and I worry many Vera fans may find themselves similarly disappointed.

Nice, but ....

The fabric is quilted which I did not expect (and don't particularly like). Why they describe it as microfiber is beyond me. Does not feel like any microfiber I have seen before. Going back to the web page for this item I see now that if you look real close at the big Vera Bradley photos, you can see the quilting. It seems to be well made and is a good size, in my opinion, and I like that it does not have all sorts of extra pockets on the inside and outside. I appreciate that it is basically one open space inside with one open pocket and one zipper pocket. If you like that, you know as well as I do that it is hard to find a plain bag. Personally, I don't like the fabric and the chemical smell is quite bad. Hope it goes away soon. Really quite disappointed due to my personal taste, not the quality of this bag.

Elegant, Classy & Versatile. Love it! ❤️

When I first saw this bag, prior to ordering, I immediately thought of gifting it to my friend who absolutely loves black bags/purses, but especially the smaller ones. But when this bag arrived, I decided to keep it for myself as it exceeded my expectations...... the fact that I'm addicted to lovely bags/purses, didn't help. This Vera Bradley Crossbody Purse is simple, elegant, classy and of deep beautiful black color. I didn't originally realize, till I saw it in person, that it was quilted, which I love even more as it just adds to its beauty. It's so versatile, and I'm surprised how much I can actually put in it! It has 2 straps & the longer one is optional and a good length. The interior is a fun, black & white pattern and, to my surprise, enough room for all my essentials. The side zipper can fit your cell phone, sunglasses, etc. I'm absolutely thrilled to have found such a lovely, classy designer purse..... and, let's be honest, we all love our designer stuff, be it purses, clothes, etc. It's also a very good price for this lovely, well made, classy little beauty. I'm keeping this one for myself ???? OH, and delivery was fast and nicely packed. I highly recommend it ❤️ Thank you.

Big Noise That Turned Deaf

I have been hearing a lot of noise about Vera Bradley’s line of bags. So got to join the crowd and bought this black crossbody. So what is exciting about this brand? The online description says made of microfiber. Hmmm tried all ways and means to feel that special touch when you glide your hand on the material. Nope, this is not microfiber. The bag material is sustainable, quilted with nice stitching, and made by Cambodians. The workmanship and quality are good. It is light and I guess due to that they have to use a thin material cover inside the bag. There are two pockets inside. One can be closed via zipper. The zipper movements are smooth. The zipper brand is unknown so we do not know if they use YKK. A nice touch I think was the use of metals to attach the handle to the bag body - they are branded with the company name Vera Bradley. This is a no-nonsense simple, sustainable casual black bag that can be worn crossbody or shoulder bag. For $95.00, as of March 3, 2023, this bag is very plain, does not come with dust bag, made from sustainable material and maybe not for everybody.

Just okay

I own a couple of Vera Bradley purses and am familiar with the fabric they are usually made out of. I was curious to see what this purse would be like with microfiber listed in the description. This black purse just looks quilted with a floral black and white design on the interior. There is one interior zip pocket and one rectangular sized pocket on the other side of the interior. It is nice that it comes with a long strap as well but I would not pay the retail price of $95 for this item.
