First off, I would never use a pan like these to cook with because they are Aluminized ... and have a Coating! I only purchase non-toxic pots, pans, dinnerware, glasses, mugs, food storage, etc. There are just too many poisons being added to our food, dishes and cookware. Later, when we get sick, we're not able to figure out what happened. This problem isn't just within the home ... most people would freak out if they could see the pots and pans restaurants use when they cook our food. That being said ... I recently had to get a new refrigerator and wanted something to line the shelves with where I store milk and other liquids. These were perfect for this, and the front to back fit (depth) was perfect ... as if they were made for this purpose. The so-called shelf liners sold for refrigerators just don't cut it. For one thing, if you look closely at the pictures of these liners you will see that they don't cover from front to back ... just part way. As for spills? Come on! ... if your milk carton leaks the shelf liners will NOT be able to absorb a spill like that. These pans have a nice lip around the pan and would save the day if you had a leak. Problems also arise when you place frozen meats in the refrigerator to thaw because they frequently leak fluids ... especially chicken. It is so much easier to clean a pan rather than having to clean a mess that drips down to other parts of the refrigerator. Additionally, the shelf liners do not allow for sliding items from side-to-side, front-to-back ... and vice versa. Instead, they grip. Although, I don't want to scratch the glass shelves, I also don't want my arthritic hands to have to support the weight of items that I want in the back of the refrigerator. These pans take care of that. The fluted design allows for things to slide without effort. The heavier items ... like a full carton of milk ... can be moved with ease. These pans are the perfect size ... and have a nice weight. Because of the coating spills would be very easy to clean. And since they are stored in the refrigerator you never have to worry about the pans warping! My mother always used these types of pans in her refrigerator. Over the years I saw them save the day by containing spills. After coming home for the Commissary one day I put the cartons of milk in their place. I didn't notice that one was leaking. Had they not been stored in a pan like these it would have caused a huge mess. The reason I looked for liners is that I felt that maybe something had been invented that would serve the same purpose. However, it wasn't to be. The liners, to me, are sorely lacking and seem to be a total waste of time and money. Since the old pans were definitely showing their age, I decided to toss them and replace them with the USA Pans. I will probably purchase more of these for use in the refrigerator. Besides spills, these pans make it very easy to pull the pan out part way to more easily reach things stored in the back of the refrigerator. Yes, there are less expensive pans ... but the fluted design and coating makes moving things around much easier. So why not five stars? It is because of the Aluminum. We need to get it out of our pots/pans, food, deodorants, etc. When people are young and feel good, they don't worry about things like this. However, these things eventually catch up with us. Can you say Alzheimer's Disease? I still remember the Tabacco Industry claiming that smoking didn't harm our health. So, although I wouldn't use these for baking ... they are perfect for my refrigerator needs. More importantly, they are made in the USA. I believe that with their fluted design and coating they could have a whole new market for products to be used in the kitchen ... like the refrigerator. Amazon needs to make it easier to find products made in the USA. It wasn't an easy task finding these. Even when you ask for products made in the USA you still primarily receive options for products made in China. We need to support companies like USA Pan. I just wish they would get rid of the Aluminum!
