Three times price at store
I use this in many dishes. Including many western dishes. A bottle costs three fifty at Asian stores. But that is an hour round trip drive. Thus I sometimes buy here for convenience. When I go to my great Chinese supermarket I stock up.

Good Product, Bad Quality Control
It's a solid cooking wine. The bottle came pretty dirty, not a big deal. The cap however, essentially had no threads, so there was no seal after you remove the safety tab and its a spill waiting to happen. This has happened to me twice with this brand now. Not eligible for return or replacement. Maybe have a good bottle on hand to transfer this to just in case.

Great Flavor
I used Qian Hu Chinese Shaohsing Rice Cooking Wine to make chicken with oyster sauce. The first time I made the recipe I did not have rice cooking wine so I used rice vinegar. The taste waas just OK. The next time I made the chicken, I used rice cooking wine and it made a big difference in the outcome of the dish. Absolutely a must ingredient, so flavorful and delicious. I will alway have rice cooking wine available for cooking.

Good for Chinese recipes — but is it gluten free?
I can't really tell the difference between different brands of Shiaoxing cooking wine, they all give good results in my recipes, and my palate isn't sophisticated enough to tell one from the other. This one is good. However: My wife has celiac disease so I avoid ingredients with gluten. The ingredients on the label of this brand are water, rice and salt. No problem, right? I recently learned that many brands of Shiaoxing wine use wheat to start the fermentation process, and they contain gluten, though wheat is not an ingredient, per se. Apparently, that isn't always reflected on their labels. This label doesn't list gluten ingredients, but it doesn't say gluten free, either. (I doubt these manufacturers are bothering with any sort of GF certification.) So now I'm not sure whether I can/should use this or not.

Totally upped my game on "copycat" Asian takeout recipes.
With Covid-19 came the shut down of my favorite Chinese restaurants plus I live rural. Nobody delivers here and it's not always convenient to drive out for takeout. We do sometimes, but prior to Covid-19, you could go hit the buffet at the Golden Dragon or the Peking Wok once or twice a month and have hot delicious food. So like a lot of people, I started searching online for "copy cat" recipes of our favorite dishes. I always wonder why even something as simple as a fried chicken wing takes on a special flavor. I thought it was just soy sauce in the marinade. Nope. It's Shaohsing wine. This Mother's day, I replicated all of my mother's favorite dishes from the buffet, including wanton soup, fried wings and a General Tso inspired dish made with shrimp instead of chicken. Those wings marinated in a mixture overnight that contained two tablespoons of the Shaohsing wine. The wonton filling and stir fry veggies also contained a splash (along with other flavors like toasted sesame oil, miso paste, etc.) The results were outstanding. The wings, especially, were banging!! I thought I was going to have leftovers but nope! Everyone ate ample servings and wanted "to go" boxes. I have hosted a lot of dinner parties. People consider me a good cook but I don't think I've ever gotten so many compliments in one night. I would definitely want to always have this in my pantry and looking forward to trying new recipes.

Absolute must for Oriental cooking
This brand is the best IMHO. THE secret ingredient that makes your Chinese recipes stand out. There really is no substitute, great price too!

Adds great flavor to Asian food.
Not a gourmet, but I read this is one of the secrets to getting great Chines “take home” flavor. It does make a difference. I bought on the lower end of various price points and will buy this again.
