Looks like they painted over a scratch with paint that wasn't the same color

Bought this for a play at our community theater because it is very period correct. But it looks like some damage or a scratch maybe was painted over And the paint they used for cover up was a different shade of gold. Then they clear coated it. Normally I would send it back but we really needed this piece for our play. It is an otherwise very solid piece and very heavy. The horse hair plume is synthetic So it frays and needs a little more care than real horse hair. You get a pretty heavy solid piece for your $80. But also for $80 I expect it all to be the same color and not have a patch that stares me right in the face every night it comes on stage as though it's about to sing "Rose's Turn" from Gypsy. Definitely not the worst reproduction piece I've ever seen but the errors that are there are glaring and definitely off-putting if you want a premium display piece.

Could be better

Product was delivered without red horsehair crest as pictured. The helmet itself is steel, with polished exterior, but a dark, grime covered interior. Some of the exterior surface has grease or other debris that was difficult to remove. But as always, Amazon's return process was a snap.

caution !

looks good but is of very poor workmanship greasier than a slicked hog crest doesn't fit well at all lousy fastening devises doesn't secure well at all crest wobbles like a whore on a barrel of dried apples visor moves poorly all in all I am not very happy nor satisfied

Okay but low quality

If you want for display or a costume great. It doesnt come with the blume, I got 40 usd off from amazon for that. The workman ship is lacking alot of sharp edges and not cut tight accent piece. There is no chin strap. This great for display, not good for reacting or a historical piece.

Quality product

Awesome product, looks great, made of real steel and even has a head harness inside so that it can fit comfortably on your head. Very happy with this purchase!

Be warned!!

When the product arrived zero paperwork. The latch on the left side was twisted and looks like it is going to be breaking off when i opened it out of the box. Helmet was dirty and covered in grease. At least it seems like all the parts were there. I would not recommend this buy.

it is a beautiful piece of work

This was ordered as a present for my son, and it came faster than expected for one thing, it is a beautiful piece of work, although the leather piece is not been added as true Roman Helmets do have this attribute. excellent work.

Covered in grease!!!

It seems fine, but lord, there's so much grease on it that it ruined the red plume on it! Avoid buying it, not suggested.

Out of the box quite dirty since they have to oil it for it doesn't rust. After a good wash, it does the job perfectly for cosplay. Keep in mind that it is not historically acaurate, but for the price you can't find anything better.
