NOT EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED

If there is one thing I will not tolerate, it is insufficient product description. This RB set of X Gear protective pads and guards are described as featuring QUICK RELEASE HOOKS. Now one would be under the impression that all three pairs (knee, elbow, and wrist pads) would have the closures on all pads based on the web description and that is precisely why I honed in on this set after scouring the internet for the perfect set for weeks. I needed a set which had closures which involved more than just velcro straps as velcro strap closure features alone wear out quickly with frequent use and velcro straps used in this way is unbearably uncomfortable rubbing against the skin which is bound to happen with this type of gear. Well lo and behold although the knee and elbow pads have the quick release closures someone over at Rollerblade either: dropped the ball, was chintzy with keeping their production costs down, and/or figured no one would notice that the wrist guards don't have the closures and are plain velcro straps yet somehow that part of what I would consider to be of utmost importance to the action sports customer didn't make it onto the description at least not here on Amazon. Unacceptable! While I will say with sadness because had the wrist guards had the closures I would have been extremely happy with this gear because I can see that it is very well made and wrist, knee and elbow pads otherwise look like incredible protection and I really would have loved to put a close on my weeks-long search for the perfect protective gear unfortunately it is back to the drawing board for me based on my purchasing transaction involving misleading, unappreciated, and incomplete information from this vendor.

Very Satisfied.

I am 5,9 184lbs. I bought the Xtra large set. Fit pretty well, maybe just slightly too large for myself but with clothing on it is a perfectly snug fit. I wear these with pants and a sweater. Would not trust these without a layer of clothing underneath as they do slide. I have gotten hurt before as the padding slipped away from my elbow when I wasn't wearing my sweater under them. Sweating in these is to be expected but that doesn't bother me. Still these deserve at least a 4 star. Why? If you get a good fit, these will do their job. I have fallen multiple times, and I get back up each time like nothing happened thanks to these pads absorbing the impact. The hooks make putting these pads on with clothing really easy and I usually don't have to adjust the straps at all. Maybe once every week. What's more I do not feel my movement inhibited. Giving these a 5 star because as my first protective gear purchase I am overall very satisfied with my purchase.

Great fit, even better after a little tailoring!

Really love that these are right-left specific, but I did end up sewing the elbow pads to fit a little tighter — I've got noodle arms!

Saved our bacon on the first use!

I wanted to relearn to skate, and my daughters wanted to join me. We thought we’d get by without knee and elbow pads and wrist guards, but hubby insisted, for safety. I was going to pick the cheapest ones I could find, and only get knee and elbow pads. Hubby picked these for us after researching (he always picks the best for us!) and had we not had them on that first day we’d have had some seriously painful abrasions. 2 of the 3 of us have already scuffed up our wrist guards and knee pads and didn’t want to think what those falls would have done had we not had them on! Highly recommended!

Very comfortable! Best set for the price

I love that the kneepads can be fastened over my clothing without having to slide a giant rubber band over my legs! They wrist guards are super comfortable and not as long as my old roller blade wrist guards. I don't really use the elbow pads. I tried some other brands but I keep coming back to Roller Blade knee and wrist guards! For reference, I am female, 5'5" and 140 lbs.

4.5 Stars--Good Protection!

My daughter and I like to rollerblade, but since I took a fall a couple of years ago without wearing protection, I have become more timid getting back out there. These really helped with the mental safety aspect. I knew if I was headed for trouble, I could use my hands to buffer the fall. My one error was that I bought the large size and should have bought the mediums. That is my only reason for 4 stars versus 5, and that's on me. The knee pads had to be fully tightened to stay put. I'm an advocate now to protect beforehand versus afterward. You'll enjoy your experience more just having the added confidence. Plus, these look great!

Very well thought out!

I'm glad I spent a little extra to get these pads. They have quick release latches on the sides so you can put them on last instead of having to put them on before skates and they remember the length you had them set to with some velcro straps. Very, very comfortable and soft as well. I Took a minor spill so I was able to test them and they definitely do their job. Other than the action of going down on a knee I didn't even notice or feel it though the pads. Also, if you put them on your shins you can pull them up under jeans or other pants if you like (as long as they aren't super slim fit).
