Size Up for 5E
If you have wide feet and high insteps, buy 1 size (not half) bigger for 5E. Propet is no longer Propet which used to be. 5E is not 5E any longer. The posted picture shows the black one I bought more than 20 years ago which is 8.5 5E and the brown one I bought recently which is 9.5 5E. As you can see, the old 8.5 5E is wider than the new 9.5 5E, even though the black one has been stretched out over the years. I have also bought Traverse as well as Veymont hiking shoes. It was a big mistake to buy them only a half size up, 9 5E. They did not stretch much. I still love these Cliff Walker hiking shoes. I wear them during the winter, the rainy season in Cali. FYI I repaired my 20+-year-old pair with Shoe Goo.

Truly one of a kind boot, and I do mean one of kind! The largest Propet 13/5E boot ever made!
Propet is fine shoe company that typically makes a very high quality product, even though many of their products like this one are made in China. However, my experience with this particular boot leads me to believe that their quality control is not so good, which is why I'm only giving this product 4 stars, primarily for inconsistent fit. To be specific, I am a large, diabetic man with a very wide and swollen foot making it nearly impossible for me to buy shoes from a regular shoe store, whether brick and mortar or online. Only shoes from specialty medical shoe companies such as Dr. Comfort, Orthofeet, or Apis, known for their extremely wide (up to 14E) and double to triple depth shoes for diabetic and problem feet like mine usually fit me. As you might guess, these specialty shoes typically cost $120-$180 per pair as a rule. These Propet boots only come in 5E width max, but based on reviews of how comfy and big they were, I took a chance and ordered them. I was shocked that they actually fit my very fat and wide foot and are fairly comfortable. I liked them so much, I ordered another pair in black to have as backup, as well as a few other Propet shoes in the same size, 13/5E. When these other shoes arrived, not one of the other pairs, regardless of style, came close to fitting, leading me to believe that this brown boot was clearly cut larger than any other same sized shoe in their line-up, even the same exact boot in a different color! (No, it wasn't mismarked as the length of the brown and black boots were identical, but the brown boot that I'm reveiwing here was easily twice to three times as wide, so it was pattern thing, and this boot would be very, very huge on persons normally wearing a size 13/5E shoe. I hope this isn't confusing, but the fact it fits me is total fluke and I will probably never find this error again. So I'll just enjoy this boot till it wears out as it's much less expensive than my usual medical footwear.

Fit perfect, and very comfortable.
They were comfortable, and the price is right. I wear a EEEEE, and they're really hard to find. I couldn't recommend these more, and waterproof as well. I would have preferred a smoother sole, but I'm happy I could find a shoe that fits.

Not as wide as I expected for. 2x wide shoe
A little tight in the toe area …gonna order the Triple wide next time …but appear to be a well made shoe

Happy but a few minor negatives!
Well I received these boots nearly two months ago and i have really been happy with them, once I got the correct size. The first time ordering I hit the wrong size and ordered a 10 by mistake. They nearly fit but not quite. So return was easy and replacement also. no additional charges or shipping charges. Once I go the 10.5 I wore them for a day and this is why I marked down the arch support. the insert that they come with is not very substantial. I placed a set of Dr Scholl's gell souls in them and have been very pleased with them. They have been very comfortable to wear in the hospital where I work. I also walk a mile each afternoon on pavement and they have been good. The temp got very warm last week and the boots don't breath much. They are made of a good leather but a little warm in the sun. Also I have had to replace the shoe laces in them already because the eyes are a little bit sharper and frayed the laces that came with them. They were way to long for the boots anyway. Overall these minor details wouldn't hinder me from ordering them again. They broke in easily and I am happy with them especially the price I paid for them with free shipping.

Good boots for problem feet.
Excellent boots. Comfy with a good wide-wide width. I can't speak to durability as I've only been wearing them for two weeks. But I'm a butcher who's feet are constantly covered in blood and cleaning chemicals. I've never had a pair of shoes last longer than a year, tops. So we'll see if these pass the test of time. The only caveat? They are a little big. Not to wide or to long on me, but the height of the toe area is extreme even though they fit snugly around the ankle and and heel. I threw some pads in there and they fit perfectly now. A year later; they lasted. Good deal, I just bought a new pair, size 12 this time and they have a perfect fit. The waterproofing lasted a good 6 months. The only reason I switched out is because they look old and beat up but they're still functional for yard work. The laces suck, they're too long and won't stay tied unless you knot them. The upper hooks come loose to the point of freely spinning but never popped out. May buy again in a year if they I still on the market.

Very good fit.
It’s very hard for me to find a comfortable shoe of any kind and these fit very well and have good traction. They are not listed as winter boots but I use them and they are doing a good job. The quality is also good and I was lucky to get them on sale. Good product.

Avoid they fall apart
Avoid this boot, great fit but the metal hooks rust and the soles fall apart

Nice boots. Comfortable and warm. Beware the width issue on sizing.
The good news: seem like nice boots. Appear well made and are comfortable (see below for more on that). Comfortable even for all day wear. Kept my feet warm in very cold temps. Soles seem to have good traction on snow. Laces are weirdly long. There are lots of reviews on these that touch on the sizing issue. I ordered what was listed as my size in "5e". I normally take a 3e. Right now I am wearing them with heavy dress socks and they are a perfect, snug fit. Dont think boot socks would work. I should note that I have orthotics (arch supports). So yes, get them but upsize on your width.

so the purchase and exchange process was horrible. However
I was sent the wrong product, so the purchase and exchange process was horrible. However, the boots themselves are great! Very few boots are available in 5E width, which is what I needed. I took a chance on these and am very happy with them. Most importantly, the fit is good. Not only that, but the materials and construction of the boot are top notch. The leather exterior and rubber sole are both attractive and functional. The tongue and ankle areas are nicely padded, providing good comfort. I also like the laces and speed hooks. It's all about fit. If you choose the correct size and width, I think you'll be very happy with the boots.
