This fan is relatively large and powerful, pushes air effectively through my home, and has a few extra features that my older fans lack. It comes with warm lighting, meaning yellow in color, and it's a touch more yellow than I wanted, but I've gotten used to it. They light is good for a cozy environment and would be good in a living room (this is in my kitchen). Just a note. It's not hard to swap the bulbs for white ones as they are normal ceiling fan bulbs. They all worked. The glass on each bulb were intact though a little greasy, so I had to windex them a bit, and I found there was a light amount of grease on most of the parts, even the fan blades, and certainly the motor. All of it got wiped and was fine, but that was a little weird. I think the idea is to preserve the product if it's on a cargo ship for a long time. In use, the lights go through four different modes, which I found to be no annoyance. The fan's chain rotates through dim settings, but the switch on my wall doesn't have that problem and remembers where we were with that issue. Another reason I may switch to smart bulbs in the future though. The fan has normal features of speed and reversing the fan in the winter. No surprises and it's a quiet, great fan for its most basic function. The blades are great for moving air in a large living room. The blades were really well balanced, no wobble, and usually when I install a fan I need to do a little balancing (taping weight on the blade). Installation wasn't bad. Just connect the wires, run them through a rod you hang, hang the motor. I had a lot of annoyance with the blades connecting to arms on the motor, and recommend you do that before you do anything else, and lift the whole thing up to hang. I actually wound up using a micro flathead screwdriver, for my eyeglasses, to get the blades on. They are definitely on really well though. It's such an obvious install you don't really need instructions, but the included instructions are clear. If you've never installed a fan, watch a video online showing the process. It's really easy and the only challenge is getting up there in a way where you can twist together those electrical wires while holding the fan up to hang it. The fan offgassed a lot, like a mattress or something. It took a couple of weeks before it didn't smell. This is weird in my opinion, and I recommend you leave the motor unit out of the box, in your garage or your patio, for a few days, before installing, and wipe it down with a wet cloth to get some of the preservation oil off. In use I know this will hold up for years and am pleased it's such a good fan. It's a a good value, not an excellent one, at this price point, but I'm happy with it.
