Great upscale builders grade lights!
I purchased three of these lights for my master bathroom during my recent remodel project. Overall I like the lights, but a few details make them a four star fixture instead of a five. PROS: ~ They are seemingly solid lights. I was a bit concerned about the construction when I unpacked them, but once they were tightened up to the wall, they are plenty sturdy for a wall sconce. ~ Decent enough finish for a $40 dollar light. You get what you pay for and these are not expensive fixtures, for the price, the metal finish is good enough. Same for the glass...all three of my globes were in excellent shape and looked good. ~ Easy enough to install if you have even a little experience with lighting or electrical. Its nice they include the wire nuts. ~ I though they might be a little heavy for use with remodel gang boxes, but once the square base was tightened down with the two decorative nuts, it was totally sturdy. ~ They actually INCLUDE the two nuts you need to lock the mounting studs to the base plate! That's huge...it seems small, but trust me...its a big deal. Without those, you will be fighting the studs loosening themselves from the base plate as you attempt to tighten the two decorative studs. CONS: ~ Basically no instructions. The sheet they include tells you practically nothing about installation other than one fairly crude diagram of how they intend for it to be mounted. The truth is, they are pretty easy to install, but if you have never installed a light with a mounting bracket before, I guess it could be confusing at first. It would be nice to include at least a few words on how they want them installed. ~ Speaking of which, the lack of instructions might be even more frustrating if you don't realize you will need to cut the two mounting studs to length depending on the depth of your gang box. I had to cut a little more than 1/4" off each stud so they did not protrude too far from the fixture base. If you don't cut them, you will find you cannot tighten the fixture against the wall since the mounting studs will bottom out in the shallow decorative nuts. You want about 1/8" protrusion when the fixture is pressed flush against the wall. Take a minute and measure the depth you need BEFORE attaching the studs to the base plate. ~ They DO NOT INCLUDE the screws you need to mount this to your electrical box. It even goes so far as to say that on the instructions page they sent. I can't understand WHY they don't include those two screws since most electrical boxes use practically universal hardware to attach lights and fixtures, but alas, they are not included. I used two hearty sheet metal screws to make sure the mounting plate was firmly attached to my remodel gang box. SUMMARY: Generally speaking, these are good lights for the price. Are they going to perfectly match your $600 brushed nickel Hansgrohe shower head? No... They are upscale builders grade fixtures at best. If you plan accordingly and don't put them right next to something clearly more high quality, then you can hide that fact and make them look pretty good.

Nice light fixture; 2 minor drawbacks to consider
Very nice looking - much better in person than can be seen in the thumbnail. The picture does not do the glass justice - once lit up, the bottom 4/5 of the glass cylinder have a frosting pattern that evenly distributes light in all directions (except straight down, of course - due to the shape). The feature of the frosting stopping before the top adds a nice decorative touch. The metal is shiny, but not chrome shiny - which is perfect for "brushed nickel" finish. Two features that were a drawback and why I can't leave 5 stars... 1. The package did not contain the 2 screws needed for mounting the fixture into the electrical box. I had to dig through my spare screw jar for some that would work. I don't understand, because those screws are standard issue in all light fixtures. They even included wire nuts, but not the screws. 2. The fixture uses a round, flat metal mounting plate that you have to mount to the electrical box. My boxes are standard 4" diameter plastic boxes, but this mounting plate is also 4" diameter, so it does not overlap the sheetrock, and sinks down onto the electrical box, especially if your electrical box is countersunk deeper than the sheetrock surface. It would be better to have a larger plate. I used washers to bump it out, but once again, had to go out to the shed and dig those up out of my spare parts.

Not bad
I basically bought these just because they were nickel finish and had a wide base to cover some large holes in the wall the previous owner made. There were some goofy things I had to work around, such as the attachment screws. They were about an inch too long, so I had to cut them to size so the nickel base plate would fit snug against the wall. And honestly, I mounted mine upside down for a different look and light aiming. The glass on these lights are very heavy and thick. Overall, a nice light though. Probably a bit too expensive for what it is. They come packaged very well though.

Good looking fixture, user friendly not so much.
We bought 8 of these lights for down our hallway, and when we started putting them up the screws that hold the light tight to the wall were 1/4 in too long for some reason. Also in the description of how to put them up, they are missing two screws that hold the mounting bracket to the blue light box and wiring. Other than the installation of parts being a bit confusing, they look great. Just wish installation was more user friendly.

These look nice in our 1/2 bath. They were a bit of a pain to install and I think this was in part due to our house is old and the original boxes were not even. The screws provided to secure the base on were too long and I had to cut them down so the covers would screw down tightly.

Not for Moist Environments
I purchased these lights to replace a seven year old bathroom vanity set. These lights looked great when they were new and were easy to install. I had no complaints until the hardware and mounting caps started to rust after a year. These were installed in a master bath with a shower that is used daily so apparently they do not do well in moist environments. The lights these replaced had no cosmetic damage after seven years so obviously there are better brands/quality.

Got two pairs of these for two renovated bathrooms. We have them hanging upside down, which is perfectly fine. They're a solid, well built product that should go well with any Craftsman-ish styled room.

Great Sconces!
I have been looking for new bathroom lights for years. Before getting these I have ordered and returned lights from "big box" stores and wasted a ton of gas to find that they were not for 'damp' locations (even though I was told they were) and found other parts of the description were incorrect. THE PROGRESS lighting that I purchased from Amazon are wonderful. Plenty of light from the sconces and they look great. No shadows, no problems. They are terrific.
