Easy to install
Got this for our doors once our toddler could reach the deadbolt lock. Having an out of reach lock that we could quickly install gave some relief. I used a permanent marker to mark underneath the sliding piece so I can see that it’s locked from across the room.

We wanted an extra know for safety and accidental opening of door by our kids.. we put it on height to not allow the kids to open the door for any stranger pros - good design specially hiding the screw underneath cons - slight paint came off during setup itself. Also, it was bit unsure on durability with the pattern.. but that could just be me. Overall does the intended job.

slide bolt
I was hoping for a longer throw on the slide bar, as I needed an inch cover a gap in my installation. But I was able to modify the slide bar very easily to gain a long throw. They are solid brass and I like the black burnished finish and it goes with the black paint on my installation.

Very Secure
This was a life saver product. We ordered a few of these security bolts to keep the grandson out of the pantry and storage rooms. I have tried so many other products, and he was able to break them or overcome the locking mechanism. So far so good!

Looks great and works well!
After reading some of the reviews here, I nearly decided against these surface bolts. I've used Prime-Line products before and have always had a good experience. I am refinishing all of the interior doors in my home. I changed the color of my hardware and that facilitated changing out the old surface bolts that I had installed on my three sets of double doors. Just 15 minutes ago, I installed the first of the three and everything went as expected. All of the negative reviews written were not representative of my experience. I think that many times people have no idea how to properly install stuff like this. Take your time, make sure measurements are correct, drill PILOT holes and then install. I used my power impact driver with no problem, but if you have trouble controlling power tools I would suggest driving the screws by hand, it would be easy to strip out the small screw heads. The hardware installed easily and works very well. I know that there can be an occasional bad unit, but in my case it all worked very well. If I have any issues installing the other two sets, I will come and edit this review.

First impression
As other people mentioned the sliding lock gets stiff so at times locking and unlocking is a little hard. The screws provided were more malleable than I would have liked. I was able to screw 2 of them halfway and then couldn’t get them in any further. When I tried to unscrew them, the screw head had widened and distorted so the screwdriver didn’t fit in them anymore. I had to spend several minutes using pliers to get the screws off. I was able to use some adhesive and very strong super glue to affix the lock and so far it’s holding up. I wish the screws themselves had been stronger and a little bigger so they could have been more durable. The install would have been a lot easier if the screws were better.
