ON PAR WITH SEA-MONKEYS AND MAGIC CRYSTALS
This watch and sleep bracelet came as a set, supposedly unisex. The band is a man's band. I was excited to get the watch. The concept looked very intriguing. First the sleep bracelet: Yes it is. There is a silicone band that goes around your wrist and a stainless plaque with the word "sleep "on it. Mind you, they just say this "MAY improve your quality of sleep". I think it might be powered by the "placebo principle". If you really, really, really believe it will work, it might work. There is no white noise, no soothing aromatherapy or even a little glowing light to make you think this bracelet is doing something. It's just a bracelet. They say "The technologies in our watches and sleep bracelets are finely tuned to pick up and channel toward our bodies specific frequencies that have different desired effects for daytime or nighttime usage" UHHHH...OK. A natural frequency is the frequency at which a system tends to oscillate in the absence of any driving or damping force. Sort of like magic. In my opinion, and from all the information I could find, the bracelet is complete hokum. The watch is: ....just a watch. It has a stationary stainless steel bezel and silicone strap. The mineral-type crystal is "composed of several elements that are heat-treated to create an unusual hardness that helps resist scratches" The watch is water RESISTANT to 99 feet (Not water -proof). They don't say if that is horizontally or vertically .This might be helpful if you're snorkeling. On the other hand, if you're on a snorkeling vacation, and you're wearing a watch, you're doing it wrong... Not for diving... Be sure the "crown" is tightly in place to prevent leaks. If condensation forms under the face it is likely caused by a change in temperature...they say. Battery estimated to last average 18 months. If it has to be replaced before the two year warranty is up the battery must be replaced by an authorized repair center. Also the same for quartz "maintenance" If the warranty card is not signed and stamped by the seller the warranty is worthless but you still have the Amazon warranty. I researched and read all the info I could find on "double-blind" tests etc. before doing this review. The general consensus is this is just hype. To quote one study: "The whole idea that you can put healing frequencies on a metal plate is so absurd that you have to question the expertise of the researchers who took it seriously enough to do these tests. The watch is called "unisex". It has a good weight and might be suitable for a man however on my 6 inch wrist (which is probably average for a woman) it feels, and looks, like a sun-dial. The watch face is close to 1 ¾ inch in diameter and completely spans the width of my wrist. . Why did I give the watch a two star review instead of a one star? Actually if you're looking for a stainless steel analog man's watch with a silicone band, at an inflated price, this one seems to keep accurate time so far. Discreet little sticker on the box:" MADE IN CHINA"

A cool looking designer watch that comes with a "sleep" bracelet
Philip Stein Unisex Day/Night Analog Display Japanese Quartz Black Watch Set is a real nice looking designer watch that looks good on both men and women. Along with the watch comes a "sleep" bracelet that is supposed to help you get a good night's rest. After trying it for over a week, I can tell you that it doesn't work at all except keep you up because it's on your wrist. I love the look and feel of the actual watch and I wear it whenever I go out for a night on the town or to interviews. If you are looking for a nice watch then I would recommended the Philip Stein unisex Day/Night Display Japanese Quartz Black Watch set, But be forewarned that the sleep bracelet is really nothing more than a nice accessory, nothing more.

Nice but too big
Nice watch but a bit big for a small female. Says it is unisex but just way to big.

Decent Enough - Was Expecting More
I have mixed feelings about this set. First, another reviewer pointed out that the watch is made in China. There is a sticker on the box which clearly says the "box" is made in China. I could find nothing in the literature or on the watch itself saying where it was made. To be clear, this is a men's watch, its far too large for the vast majority of women. Thus the "unisex" claim is inaccurate. The Chinese box it comes in is quite nice and its well packaged. The watch is comfortable and the larger time numbers are clear and easy to read, having an almost 3D effect. I have very good eyes, do not use glasses of any sort, but found the numbers and letters on the 3 smaller dials to be too small to be useful. The watch is quite comfortable. It looks "ok", but does not give the impression - at least looks wise - that its nearly as expensive as it is. Its not as snazzy in person as it is on the amazon photos. To my tastes, it does not look like a $500 - $600 watch. The face has a plastic look to it. Not to say it looks bad, it looks decent enough, just not great. One can assume, given the Philip Stein reputation, that the Fruitz line is producing a quality time keeping mechanism. The watch itself does feel well made and sturdy. The sleep band is much smaller and comfortable as well. I'm not sure what to make of the natural frequency technology in either the watch or the band. I believe there is a possibility there is something to it. I can say that I have not noticed any particular difference in either my sleep or my daily experience. Perhaps it takes time to see the effects? I am sensitive to such things, so we'll see. Overall, I like the watch. It feels like one is paying extra for the Philip Stein name. Thus I hesitate at the price tag, this is no value - and perhaps that's by design. Of course, looks are a matter of personal preference. And so is the importance of a designer name. For me, 3.5 - 4 stars.
