Be sure to order a new "O" Ring with filter.

Used for a whole house water filter. Fit was perfect. I wish it came with a new "O" Ring.

Excellent water pressure and quality filtering.

The filter does an excellent job of not only filtering the water but maintaining strong water pressure, as well. The pressure with the filter installed is as good as if there is no filter in the housing at all. Great value for the money.

Water filter for house. Be sure it dos not run thru your sprinkler system. Fill up too fast. House use only.

The product works as described. However, shipping/packing problems.

The product works as described. However, I had problems with the shipping/packing. I order 2 cartridges and they were loosely packed in a plastic bag. During shipment they knocked around and the rim of one cartridge broke off. Because the cartridge fits snugly in the filter canister I was able to use the broken cartridge.

Pentek filters work everytime.

Like every Pentek filter I have used, this one does exactly what it is supposed to do. Before spending several hundred dollars on a "whole house" carbon filter, I tried the Pentex Big Blue. It is used to remove the chlorine city supplied water ahead of a water softener. Based on the filters rated capacity, the chlorine in the water supply and our water usage the filter should work for 6 months. Before purchasing this replacement for the original filter (same brand and model) I tested the water after the filter for chlorine. The original filter had been in service 6 months and was still removing all the chlorine. Over time, mold and bacteria can grow in a carbon filter. With the Pentek filter, the housing is sterilized and a new filter is installed every 6 months. A "whole house" system goes 3 to 5 years, depending on make and model, before it is serviced. On this issue, the choice is simple. Economics favor the Pentek solution to the whole house solution as does sanitation. Three performance issues determine if the Pentek is a good solution. Flow - With a shower and a dishwasher running, the pressure drop across the filter is less than 1 PSI. At full flow will the filter remove the chlorine in the water supply? Using the shower plus dishwasher criteria, chlorine removal was very effective (the test was done with the dishwasher filling.). Longevity - no loss of chlorine absorption was noted at the very end life of the filter.

Broken on arrival.

So the blue part on the top of the filter was cracked and broke. I am so sad. My water has been low flow. My o rings came yesterday and the filter came 1 day late. I was patient. And when i open the parcel the filter was broken. It was not damaged in the package because they used lots of bubble wrap. It must have been broken from the factory :( Looks like i will need go order another one

Contains cancer causing materials

First problem was the fact that although this product is presented as a Pentex product - a trusted name, it comes labeled as Pentair. Not as advertised. Second concern was the materials the product contains. As this filter was intended to be used as a whole house filter, l was very concerned that ALL the water used, whether for drinking or cleaning may have subjected us to dangerous materials. (Product made in China) Although it may have been suitable for the housing l have, l did not open the package as the bottom cap had a “flow through” opening in it. The original filters l have used had the bottom cap completely sealed. Whether or not this filter would have sealed at one end (in my housing), I do not know. Be Aware!

Better attention is needed before shipping the items

Exactly as advertised and what I was looking for, and the price is right. However, 4 out of the five I bought had the protecting plastic cover torn and in one of them the gaskets were missing because of that.

Cambia el sabor del agua

Yo uso un filtro ceramico para tomar agua directo de la llave y no tener que comprar garrafones, pero desde hace poco tiempo el agua llega muy sedimentada y con sabor a cloro. Compre este filtro por el cloro pero con tanto sedimento se tapa rapido. El sabor del agua es diferente, supongo por el carbon activado, no muy de mi agrado pero el filtro hace su trabajo. Solo me duro 1 mes ya que el agua llega super sedimentada.

J'utilise ce filtre pour filtrer l'eau des campings qui ne goûte pas toujours très bon et à la maison pour améliorer la qualité de l'eau fourni par la municipalité et qui a des arrières goûts de chlore.
