I bought this strainer for exclusive use when making cocktails. Im not a professional bartender but I enjoy mixology in a casual setting. After making several cocktails without a fine mesh strainer and still enjoying them I decided this item would help with the overall appearance of a drink but wouldn't improve the taste much overall. I was pleasantly surprised that the utility of the strainer not only makes my drinks look smoother but also taste better. Ive learned achieving a desired consistency every time is pretty priceless so buying one of these is a no brainer. It catches small ice shards, seeds, and pulp while still allowing spices and thicker juice to drain through. The handle feels good in my hand but it might be too sturdy for its own good. Although I expect to get many years of use out of this strainer like my other OXO bar tools, if I had to replace this item I would be looking for one that is more well balanced. When I rest the strainer on a mixing glass or any other opening it is prone to falling off due to the handle being too heavy. This really frustrates me as I am sometimes unable to make drinks that require me to use both hands to pour something over the strainer! Outside of this, its a great product. My personal gripe with it may not be an issue for you. Still, I enjoy spending money on tools once and having it do its job without any gripes. A small oversight on behalf of OXO, but one that prevents it from being a perfect review!

It's expensive but worth it
This is definitely heavy guage mesh and will hold its form...I would recommend for tea... drink... anything... its great... a pretty penny but worth it ...especially for cold brew

Love this thing
Great steel mesh strainer. I use this to strain my coffee every morning; I use a french press and found there was too much residue left in the bottom of my coffee cup so I wanted to use a coffee filter to strain it. I place the coffee filter in this strainer and it does the job very well (yes, I realize it's the filter doing most of the straining, not the steel mesh). Also use this for my tea. I prefer to brew loose leaf tea so once it's been brewed in the pot, I will strain it as I pour into my cup. This strainer does a great job of getting all the small-large bits out of my cup. The only con for me is that it is not the easiest to clean. My dad used it for his coffee one morning but left the dirty filter sitting in it. When I went to use it later on, I noticed it had left a little brown coffee stain on the steel mesh. It took me longer than I expected to get the stain off, but I was able to. I'd repurchase this, so therefore, I'd recommend it. Actually, I've already recommended that my mom buy one too.

Ideal Quality and Size -- Its OXO**
Admittedly, I'm a huge OXO fan, but this handy strainer exceeds even their standards. While I purchased this to strain citrus juices, the practicality is far greater than most kitchen or bar applications. The balance is perfect between handle and strainer. The perimeter of the conical mesh bowl is edged with heavy chrome plated steel, protecting not only from dings, but guarding against warping of the mesh screen. The cone shape permits larger straining volume and focuses contents toward the center, instead of allowing them to leak to the side, and onto the counter. Interested in a perfect cup of British or herb tea? The OXO Fine Mesh cocktail Strainer provides a much better solution than the common "dainty" tea strainers that don't quite fit most mugs. The OXO strainer may even permit brewing tea directly into the cup, if you are so inclined, or infusing grated Ginger and lemon into tea, for my Mom's old cold remedy, "Ginger Tea" Wish to double-filter a bar drink, beyond use of a "Hawthorne strainer" or shaker, well the OXO Mesh Cocktail Strainer is your perfect ally for the ideal strained concoction. You will not go wrong by buying this OXO Cocktail Strainer. The quality and multiple uses will reward you for years to come!

Expensive, but so worth it
A fine mesh cocktail strainer is a must for any home bar, and this is the Cadillac of fine mesh strainers. Feels great in one's hand and fits well in the glass. Really makes you feel like a professional bartender when you use it. A snap to clean.....just a quick rinse is pretty much all it takes.

Nicely made fine strainer
I bought this fine strainer for cocktails and it works perfectly. Despite the fine mesh and it sturdy and after several months of use, shows no sign of wear. I would definitely recommend for any smaller applications like drink straining.

Absolutely wonderful!
After other brands rusted and fell apart, buying this has been the perfect choice. I've since purchased extras for my work bar after the testing in home. Could not recommend more. Sturdy grip handle is perfect.
