Good pliers
These beat trying to use other tools that were not really designed for these types of lock rings. I would have to say that like other OTC stuff these are not really made for eberyday use. The pattern on the out side of the jaws shows wear even onty after one use. This means that the jaws were probably not hardened properly. If these are to be used for home projects they fit the bill.

Not for a mechanic.
I purchased this tool to remove 2 1/2" horseshoe type retaining rings the bucket cylinders on my tractor. After rebuilding the boom cylinders a few months ago, and taking an hour to get the rings of,f I was more than willing to pay the price for a dedicated tool that I would use twice. First cylinder rebuild went smooth, spread the retaining ring and popped it right off and right back on after I put in the new O rings. The 2nd cylinder ring came off just as easy but when I tried to put it back on, one of the tongues broke off the tool making it useless. My only expectation was a one time use but the pliers did not even give me that. Pay a little more and hope for better quality.

Excellent
Work perfectly after I modified the tip with a grinder. But they certainly worked very well before the modification and they are of high quality. I just needed them for a specific snap ring that was to hard to reach with bigger pliers.

tis indeed a single use specialty too but using general lock ring pliers on horseshoe rings is a cluster-f. these make it a true “snap” no more fiddling.
