The media could not be loaded. To start off with I want to say that I think the quality and cuteness of these dolls is superb! They have such small faces and features, but they are very well made, no crooked noses, mashed mouths, or crossed eyes. They are classic Disney and that's why Disney has the price point they do. While I am impressed with the faces, and the fact that even though the hair is plastic, it's so intricately detailed that it still gives the impression of movement, there are some things I was less than impressed with: right out of the box I noticed that three of the six dolls have a dramatic back bend with their elbows, which while just standing, looks like a princess wave, but if you try to move the arm up or down it looks like the doll's arm is broken, the cupcake and teacup have to be held in a specific way or it looks really odd. I am aware these are little girls and you wouldn't think they would care, but it's usually my daughter that points out those weird little details and asks me why their arms don't go down straight. The next thing that stood out to me was the removable skirts, which at first I thought was completely pointless, but as someone else had pointed out: the doll skirts can be changed and swapped among the other dolls, which, let's face it, if the clothes come off and fit a different doll, they're gettin' swapped! I'm glad the dolls aren't naked underneath as most dolls with removable clothing lose them almost immediately, so at least if You lose the skirts they are still wearing a sparkling 'leotard". My biggest "complaint" (which it really isn't, just more of an observation) was Ariel having a tail... now before You think I'm completely damaged, hear me out, Ariel for a large portion of the movie, was a human and the movie ended with her being a human, and furthermore, her entire happiness depended on her staying Human.... So IF they had to include Ariel (of all the princesses) in a tea party set up, wouldn't it have made sense, to give her legs and a "leotard" like the other princess dolls? And instead of her wearing a cloth skirt, they could have given her a fabric "tail" and one extra removable skirt? To me this idea would encourage the idea of changing outfits among the princesses, Ariel would make sense as a guest at the party and she would still be able to be a mermaid at will. I realize this is adding quite a bit of extra things here, but it's just my thinking on it. Even still, maybe instead of Ariel I might have included Princess Aurora, Snow White, or Jasmine.... But I get it, Ariel is kind of a staple Princess. With all that aside, it's a sweet set, I love that the dolls have the ability to hold both cups and cupcakes, the cupcakes have a slit on the side which is perfect to slide their hands inside of and the cup handles fit around their hands as well. Their limbs are rubber, their heads turn back and forth and their legs have partial ball joints so they open in the sort of "split" style to sit, which means they sit sturdier than if they just bend straight leg like barbie dolls. For the amount of pieces, the attention to detail, the removable skirts and the high quality of everything included, I do think this is a five star product and I really think any little girl would have a great time playing with it. Not really difficult but little ones 5 or younger might have trouble getting the cupcakes and teacups to easily fit on the doll hands and might need help.
