Instructions have too much fine print. Works, good.

Seems well made. Switch doesn't mate up to wall plate as tightly as others. So finish not as neat looking. Hook white to neutral and black to your load. Other three terminals wire like any three way switch.

Can work on a 3 pole if you mainly only use one switch

So after reading previous negative reviews of the said to give this product the shot. As long as you mainly only turn the light switch on or off the same point it shouldn't be that big of a deal but if you use the other switch to turn the light on or off it will throw off this switch in reverse when the pilot light comes on. If you do use the other switch be sure to use it to turn the light on or off before going back to this one...... having said that I put the black wire to ground and the white wire on a positive lead. That should work for my purposes. if you have an extra wire as shown in the instructions you might be able to hook it up correctly.

working just as expected.

The amber light is on as expected. I am using it on a two pole light. This only works if you mostly just use one switch. Since it will only work in one configuration, or combination of one switch in one direction and one switch in another. You can configure which combination you want by how you wire the switches internal light wire. In my case, this works fine, since I mostly just use one switch. This will NOT be a good solution if you use both switches unless you do extra wiring.

know that the wires coming out the back of the switch are for the lighted switch toggle switch, otherwise it works great, lets us know if we left on our outdoor lights without having to look out the window

LOVE IT!

Contrary to the standard "switch lamp is on when the basement light is off" this allows "switch is lighted when the basement light is on". Called a "Pilot Light" type switch, there are additional connecting wires so you can tie the hot side of the pilot lamp to the common than the neutral side of it to the circuit neutral. You gotta know how to install it, but it is well worth it! This is a quiet switch, but not a silent (mercury) switch. It is clear plastic but lights up red.

Save your money, don't buy faulty stuff!

This switch was exactly what I was looking for! I was fine paying extra for a specialty switch. When it arrived I was disappointed with the quaility and thought I got a dud because the pilot light wouldn't light. Let me explain this switch a little... it is a plain ole 3 way switch with 2 extra wires hanging out the back to control the orange pilot light inside the switch lever. Like I said, exactly what I needed and wanted. You put hot and neutral to the pilot light and it lights up! Right? Not so fast. Those two wires are where my problem was. They are not tightly connected inside of the switch and wiggling them with power connected shows the shorty faulty design. I would guess they have some sort of spring levered connection from those lead wires to the bulb in the lever so that with so many on off cycles the wires to the pilot light won't snap over time causing a short or other problem. That design is the fail though... I could not reliably wiggle the lead wires just right to keep it powered when it should be on. After realizing it would never work properly, and yikes for paying such a high price for a silly switch, I returned it. Search for "120v pilot light" and get one of those and use a regular three way switch. The current best seller option has several colors and they are way cheaper... just drill a hole in your cover plate, mount it, and call it good! You'll be glad you did, you'll save money, it will work better, and you can thank me later!

Versatile pilot or nightlight

I like I can wire it for a Pilot or night light . Now I know when my garage light is on! Big orange light let's me know my garage lights are on without opening the door to check .

good illuminated light toggle switch

The switch works just like it is supposed to. The directions are terrible. Nowhere are the two wires that power the light inside the switch shown (or at least I could not see them on the directions).
