Little short

This seems well designed but it really only goes halfway down the back. I would love it more if it was a bit longer.

Very helpful. Wish there were more sizes.

I really wish there was a size between the small and medium. My dog is 31 lbs, but long, so her measurements lined up with the small on the size chart. After reading the reviews I sized up. I had to cinch the straps way down, and it still gaps in the front. I tried the small as well, and while I could get it on her, it was hard to get over her head and the straps were pressing against her armpits. She was clearly not comfortable and I was worried about chafing and matting, so we stuck with the medium one. It's little on the pricy side, but I think it was worth it. It seems well made and smartly designed. I like the zippered opening to attach a leash to a harness. Underrated feature: the word "cooling" in large print on the vest. So far nearly all the people who have asked me why my dog is wearing a jacket in a heat wave have been too young to know how to read. My dog seems to like it, or at least doesn't mind it. Since it has to go over the head, it requires her cooperation, and she doesn't fight putting it on. Depending on the humidity, it dries fairly fast, but if I pour more water on her before it dries completely, it disperses through the whole thing pretty well, so I don't have to take it off and re-soak it. It's also held up well. I try to keep her out of brush with it on, but there's no stopping her from rolling in the grass. So far no tears or snags, and the dirt has just rinsed right out. Even in our humid weather, it does seem to make a difference on hot days. We can walk further, and her tongue doesn't end up hanging quite so far out. I've recommended it to several people who asked about it on walks, and after seeing it in action, my cousin bought the small off me for her dog so I didn't have to mess with a return.

Not what I expected

The hole for the head was smaller than expected. The top zippered opening indicated that you could a leash, but it's just an opening - nothing to attach a leash to.

Keeps my dog cool

I have a black senior dog that needs extra protection in hot temperatures. I bought this jacket and she appears more comfortable. Not sure how strong the cooling effect is - but the cold water around her back and belly seem to help her - her breathing is not as labored.

Hairless or extremely short haired dogs only

Tried the XL on a smooth coated German shepherd. With soaking every 10 minutes or so during our walk, it made a slight difference in temperature on the surface of her fur but the cooling effect did not reach her skin through her fur. 10/10 for reflecting UV and preventing her black saddle marking from becoming a hot solar pannel, but the water aspect just wasn't worth it. Size-wise, XL was a great fit for an adult german shepherd. Long haired dogs, don't even bother with this. I could see it being great fit for a hairless dog, or a dog with very short or fine fur. Think pitbull short fur or a curly-coated breed with sparse hair cut very short. Especially if they have dark fur that soaks up the sun. But be advised that the vest will need to be soaked very frequently and is only good if it is both wet and the dog is moving around, creating airflow to evaporate the water. It is not a good option for a dog who will be lounging around. Most dogs would be better off with a lightweight, silver, UV-reflecting vest with no evaporative feature.

perfect

this is perfect for long haired dogs--no struggling with long zippers trying to shove the hair in. Kya is a large, big boned Australian Shepherd. (Most people seem to think Aussies' are medium, small boned dogs---no, not all of them). I ordered the XL size for her and it fit perfect. I like the zippered opening on top to attach leash to harness because I don't use collars.

Good overall... prepare for need to re wet depending on heat

Very light weight, easy to sew patches onto. Sizing was accurate. Nice feel for the fabric. We soak the whole thing in a bowl and leave it dripping to cool the dog as long as possible. Even dripping wet, only stayed damp about 45 minutes in our heat. So, take water to re wet it depending on length of time in the sun.

Should have bought it sooner!

If you are in doubt on whether this product is worth buying then do not hesitate. My dog has an active life. Playing in the park with his pals or like yesterday we completed 3 munros. The others dogs were struggling in the heat but not my dog, I kept wetting the vest/coat and he was fine. However, still keep an eye on your dog in the heat as the jacket is only to keep him cool. You still need to check their behaviour for heat stroke / too much exercise in the sun. But the jacket is brilliant. Does what it says on the tin. It is lightweight and he doesn’t seem to mind if so I think it’s comfy on him. Buy this product, it works!

Brilliant

A must have for the summer. Reflects the sun well so my dog is not turning into a frying pan anymore due to his dark coating. Wetting the jacket adds extra cooling, although dries up during longer walks so need to remember about rewetting it. I have a mongrel but he’s a lab size dog, 27kg, and went for Large (Medium was way too small).

Seems to help keep dog cool

Nice lightweight material that holds a small amount of damp water, enough to help remove heat from my dog. Great product. My dog did catch it on Brambles which ripped a hole in the material on second wear, Sod’s law I guess. I did stitch it back up so still wearable. I use it also to help keep ticks off his fur as he runs against ever bush and tree going. Useful to have in summer heat.

it keeps my dog cool in the hot weather.

The coat is easy to put on and secure on my dog. I just put it under the cold tap in the bath and then wrung it out. It certainly did the job during the hot summer days when I had to walk my dog.

Not bad , but on a hot day , you'll still need to keep your dog in the shade / inside

This is a reasonably good product .....a bit awkward to put on as you have to pull the dripping coat over the dogs head . On a hot day itr does help , but really ,in roasting weather , even with this on a dog will probably get too hot . Probably still worth buying for when your dog has to be outside for a little while, but dont expect a super chilled dog , just a slightly less hot one
