Good Sturdy Seat For Your Throne
I've been in a wheelchair for over 30 years and I have bad luck with toilet seats lasting any length of time. I break hinges, and sometimes I break the seat itself. I got tired of having to replace the seat every 6-8 months or so and decided to try and find something that is solid and sturdy instead of just buying what was in a local store. I checked the big box stores first and found none of them to have anything that was decent. Surprisingly, I found one at W@11mart that looked decent with metal hinges, but after using it just a few months the screws ripped out of the seat. Had they thought to invest another couple pennies into longer screws (they ripped out and left big holes), that seat might have survived longer. After that, I decided to look online for something with metal hinges and a solid bar connecting them. And that's when I found this Comfort Seat. Since receiving it and using it, I am quite impressed with the quality compared to the price. To me, it looks and feels similar to the quality of commercial seats. Over the years I've had other seats that cost the same or more than this one, but which were just plain junk by comparison. I'm not saying that this is the best seat in the world, but for the quality and price I don't know of anything else that even comes close, and I've looked. I don't understand why local stores don't carry this brand. For those interested, this is not a light-weight toilet seat. If someone drops the seat down it's going to make a loud noise. If your 2 year old drops it on their fingers, you're going to hear some screaming at the very least. You probably wouldn't want to drop it on your fingers either. I wish I had known about this company 20 or more years ago. The seat fits and looks good and feels solid, but time will tell. With my current opinion of it, I would definitely buy this product again and would recommend it to almost anyone looking for a well made, inexpensive toilet seat.

Why is it So Hard to Change an Old, Broken Toilet Seat?
I waited and waited to change my old, broken toilet seat, and I'm not sure why I hesitated except I was afraid it would be an unpleasant task. Well, taking off the old seat wasn't that hard or nasty after all. Then I cleaned the area around the toilet where the new seat goes, and, working in a clean, dry, sanitary environment, put the new seat on. Now it looks great, and makes the bathroom really look good. The ONLY reason I took off one star is because my old seat, although broken and aged, had a feature that let the seat and lid go down slowly, whereas this new one doesn't have that feature, and so if you don't lower the seat or lid by hand, it will slam down on the toilet. Noise in the middle of the night? Not good. And that can't be good for the seat, either -- it will not last many years if it is constantly dropped on the ceramic toilet. This is a MINOR complaint. I soon learned to lower the seat or lid by hand, quietly, so there is no problem with wear & tear, or with noise. But just be advised, that's all. I think for a few dollars more, I could have gotten a better toilet seat replacement, but that's neither here nor there. I'm very happy with the overall quality, color, and craftsmanship of this item. As always, it was shipped fast, and the price was reasonable. Considering the time it would take (and the gas, etc.) to drive to a depot sort of store, or pay full price at a hardware store, this was a great deal. And I did it myself! That always feels good. I bought this because the seat is solid wood. I was able to install it easy enough. If you have a fancy front tank lever that comes out to much from the tank the seat won't go all the way up , I had one and I changed the lever to a simple one that sits closer to the tank. What I don't like is the large mechanism, it is really bulky. Also there is not much choice, either brass or chrome, neither go with my oil rubbed bronze bathroom. That is why I gave it 4 stars. Some people say in the reviews that the seat is short but when you install the seat there is room to pull it up to where you want it, there is like an inch of room where the bolt is that slides either way. (front or back) So pull the seat up where you want it, then when you tighten the bolts make them close to the top but not tight. Then you need to tighten them with the key enclosed slowly a little on each side. So tighten a little on one side and then the other side just a little at a time until both are tight. This step is very important. The wood is really nice. The description says piano finish, the other seats I have seen show a piano finish as super glossy but this seat is not glossy at all and I am so happy about that! Now if I could just change the bulky mechanism to oil rubbed bronze!

Soft and cushy for the tushy and well made
I have a 1980s bathroom with bone color toilet and shower. Finding a seat cover in the stores that is cushioned is impossible. I ordered one from my local hardware store the last time I needed one and it was split after a couple months and started to get a blue tint where you sit on the bone color after several uses. I threw that one out and just purchased a regular wood toilet seat, but with pelvis injuries after a while I wanted the cush back. So I went on Amazon and found this one, after reading reviews, and so glad I got purchased the seat. Easy to install and so far I can tell the difference in the quality and hope it will last for a long time.
