It seems to be good
It took me a while to get around to unpacking and trying this out, but it seems like it does what it needs to. It has two slots on the bottom to screw to something and the case looks like it could take at least a little punishment. I turned it on and thought it would be slow, but it ramped up in speed pretty quickly. I haven’t tried it in a moist environment yet, so I can’t say anything about water resistance, but I’m mostly using it as a fume vent for the time being.

Barrel stove air blower cuts boil time in half!
So, I originally ordered two of these fans. One to use as an exhaust fan for my welding area and another for a project to be named later. As often happens, my original project waits to be completed but did I ever find an incredible use for the spare blower. A friend reached out and asked me if I could weld a new fire grill for her barrel stove. I said sure and also asked if she’d be interested in a blower motor to increase the burn rate of her wood. Aka: make the fire hotter. She was excited by that possibility so I took the motor and controller along with me. A little cutting and welding later and she has a turbo injected barrel stove. 190 cfm through 3” metal ducting seems perfect. 24” off the back of the stove and the fan doesn’t heat up at all. Great product!!! Metal squirrel cage not plastic! Super quiet! Can’t say enough good things.

A little bigger than expected, but works well.
So, the heat from the woodstove in the living room settles near the ceiling and does not move into the master bedroom at the end of the house. I am using this fan to move heat from the ceiling of the living room into the master bedroom. The fan housing is metal and a bit heavier and larger than expected, but it moves a good amount of air without too much noise. Mounting the fan is a little difficult, since the body of the fan is much larger than the mounting bracket.

6" Fan With Controller
I've been using this fan with a 6ft long 6in duct to pull cold air into an office full of heat producing computers. For my use case, it has worked pretty well. I was hoping that it would be a bit quieter, and while it's really hard to move a lot of air quietly, the 35dB claimed on the page is way off. At best (when set to it's lowest speed), I'm able to measure 60dB from 3ft away using a calibrated sound level meter. At the highest speed, I measure 65dB at the same distance. I knew that 35dB couldn't be right for a fan this size, but I was really hoping for something in the low 50's that could be blocked easily with headphones. I'm also skeptical of the 395CFM airflow spec, but I don't have the equipment to measure that accurately.

I can't hear the wind because the hum is so loud
Used with a Vortex VTX600. At lowest setting I'd say the fan runs at about 50% speed, but anything below the maximum setting, this speed controller causes the fan to start humming loudly. Because of this, the perceived decibels stay the same at any speed. It lowers the speed and raises the hum. In comparison I also have a solid state vari-speed which causes minimal hum and can lower the fan speed to almost silent. Get that one instead.

Amazing Product. Works Perfectly and High Quality Build
This item works perfectly to give me better control over a 20 inch orbital drum fan that already had 3 speeds but there was very little difference between high and low speeds. From what I read online I didn't think this would even work. But eventually I decided to take a chance and try it out. I am so happy that I did. It could not work better. The item has a very good quality feel. The dial to adjust speed it smooth and feels like it will last a very long time. Highly recommend. Even if what you want to control already has speed control this still gives you more control. Excellent product.

Would be good if it worked.
Plugged it all in, and everything worked..although the speed function showed no real difference....when it was on, it was on. Worked about 5 times, then started crapping out. Now, it is garbage. Won't turn on, or function in any way. don't waste money on this. Go a little more and buy a better product.

Satisfied so i will buy another!
Works great for my purpose. Im using it on a 6" inline fan that was a bit too powerful. This slows it with a great range. I was worried that it wouldn't do alot but this can slow it almost to a stop all the up to full speed with no hum.
