AWESOME DEAL ON 8in XXXL HOODS!

awesome reflector. one of the BEST DEALS i could find online for an 8inch XXXL hood SHIPPED. stock pic almost looked like there was no hammered aluminum reflector but there is one. the hinged glass is nice to have. i previously purchased a "Puffin" brand 8 inch XXXL air cooled reflector and it does not have the hinged glass, wish i would have got 2 of these instead. the latches sealing the glass seem to do a pretty good job of creating an airtight seal but i complete the seal with hvac tape on all my reflectors for a 100% seal. seems to be very good quality all around. EDIT: 9-28-13 i ordered 2 more of these that were "USED" in "LIKE NEW" condition. they arrived beat to crap, both ends smashed in and the clip hangers on top smashed down, just as the other reviewer stated happened to theirs in shipment. i also had visible air gaps around duct ports which i was able to silicone. additionally they were slightly different (older?) models of the hood(non-adjustable socket, the reflector inside is lower quality, etc). so, all 3 ipower hoods i have are slightly different. i must have gotten lucky on the first that arrived undamaged. amazon was awesome about the issue. i was able to repair the hoods, so i was very happy with the overall outcome for the dirt cheap price i paid. these hoods are heavy enough that just standing the box on duct ends or upside down will damage the hood. there are no markings on the box stating this. hood can be stood on either side safely, simple stickers to carrier would help i think.

i got 2 and one of them the fan does not work so not sure how long it will run 2 day so far not happy about that.

Glass is thin. Doesn't contain heat as well as it should

Glass is too thin. I've had cool tubes before (HydroFarm) with Kw MH running and could hold tube without feeling a single degree of warmth, not so with this. Almost like having nothing. Even with 400+ cfm air pushing through, the heat from a 600w HPS can be felt feet away. Assembly was pretty easy as it is just connecting the end panels to the main part of the reflector and then reflector to tube. Only took about 10-15 minutes, counting smoke breaks. The included hardware for putting the reflector together is crap. They call them "brads" but in reality they are flimsy bendy things reminiscent of paper binding clips. Cord has damage to insulation probably caused by pulling it through the fixture. The only reason I feel it's a good value for the money is because I got it "used" in unopened box for about half the listed price. I'm guessing it was a return, kind of wish I had too. Never again iPower, never again.

great hood, poor shipping

1 of 2 ordered came damaged and i had to bend the hanging bracket part and then use hvac style duct seal to close all the air gaps... these are not air tight as you can see light along the seems so either use a good foil tape or duct seal to fully close them up... the footprint of light is huge!!! way bigger than any cool tube style ducted fixtures...great for heat management... update: now that the location is flowering and smelly; the smell is getting into the house. i never finished foil taping or duct sealing the hoods like i recommended above cause i think i was being lazy... now i know for the next round that they need to be more air tight....

Perfect Cool Tube Setup

This is not an AC Hood, and there are too many complaints about the sturdiness of the refelcotor. If you have a little patience during assembly they go together perfectly. Ordered 4 of these all in quality condition. It's been around 3 months of use and no issues. Outstanding price for product recieved.

Works As Advertised

Worked very well, the only drawback is that when changing the bulb, it must be change through the duct hole, requiring duct removal every time a bulb change is needed.

Let me start off by saying when you find a deal like this you can't expect perfect. From the two I assembled I one went together lined up great and all hardware was there second one was a little crooked, didn't line up correctly,and not all hardware was there but still went together and works like it should. Tubes are strong glass and socket sturdy but does hold light and a slight down angle but nothing to serious.
