Takes a while to clear but works well after that
As many noted, it took quite a while for the water coming through the filter to clear up. I ran the water maybe 15 min and it looked pretty clear. I let it sit a while but when I came back it definitely was not ready yet. I ran it another 30 min. At the end of that the water was clear and completely void of taste. Let it sit overnight, ran it about 10 min more and it was good to go. NOTE: I was using a small filtered water dispenser, not a kitchen faucet so flow rates are not too high. I would buy it again but I would do a few things differently: Being an optimist, I didn't use a bucket to catch the water. I would definitely do that so I could water plants or something useful, not just run it down the drain. I would rinse it before I installed the filter to remove anything loose (maybe it would clear more quickly).

It looked good but no cigar
First of all, I have been using the Multipure water filter close to 30 years. Needless to say, I have replaced numerous filters over the years. Finally based on the previous reviews and an attractive price point, I have decided to give Hydronix try. The arrived package showed ‘made in Taiwan’ and not China which was better in my opinion. Visual aspect of the filter was nice as well. If you want to skip my analysis, my conclusion is that it did not live up to my expectations. Issues I found: In setting up the filter, it took much longer time to clear the cloudiness of the water as compared to the original part. Yes, air bubbles are natural and so I poured and waited until the bubbles escaped. I kept rinsing more water through the filter for long time until the water finally cleared. In all fairness, water did taste cleaner than the tap water. At least it took some weird taste away from the tap water. I thought I found a bargain! Then I boiled the water, and the water turned cloudy. I understand that the calcium in the water can make boiled water cloudy but I have not seen this before from our water source. To rule out the issue with the calcium, I boiled the tap water and the water stayed clear. With the original water filter, the water always stayed clear whether boiled or not. While I don’t have the chemical analysis, I am guessing the filter may be adding particles as one of the previous reviewer noted. If it takes weeks or months to clear, it means I will be drinking whatever it is adding whether harmful or not. I also noticed that the water flow was much higher than the original filter at the same valve position which leads me to believe that either pores are larger or there is leak in the filter. Main reason I used carbon block filter over the years is the stability of the pores throughout its life time. In theory, you can use the carbon block until the flow drops significantly since the highly pressed carbon block is supposed to be stable over time. If either stability or the pore sizes are not too standard, it is a no go for my application. I actually hope that Hydronix improves the product to match the performance even if they need to raise the price a bit. I would rather use a high performance filter longer than using something that is subpar.

Good as MultiPure Filter
I had to run the water longer than the Multi-Pure filter. I ran it 30 minutes initially and after over night, run it another 30 minutes and the water started to taste just like the Multi-Pure filters. Once I ran it twice, the metallic taste went away. Good deal at less than half the price of a Multi-Pure filter.

Still not working correctly
I followed the instructions which were pretty easy but it did deposit flicks of white material like I read in other reviews even after flushing and it continues to leak.

The water tastes better without this filter.
A fraction of the price of the Multipure OEM filter; but a complete waste of money. We have gone back to the CLEAR2O system because -- in-spite of it's great inconvenience -- it at least improves the water.
