Hunter Original Downrod--it just works!

Not much to say, it's the correct chestnut brown color, both threads engaged well, and it arrived just in time for when I planned to install the fan. Only caveat: If you tighten down the fan hanging bracket too much, it can prevent you from hanging the fan on the bushing. I learned the hard way, and had to back off half a turn or so.

Serves it's purpose attached to a Hunter fan. I have a prestige series and it screwed into the base with no problems and attached to the anchor as well with little effort. Threaded on both sides. As for being universal for other brand names, this is questionable. I did get a down rod from a friend that was really nice but no threads and ran flush with the base, so I couldn't use it. Also realize the colors might be slightly off. The pictures look a little more glossy than the product, which I thought was flat. But this is subjective.

A fan to last a lifetime!

My husband's uncle always told us if we ever needed to buy a fan, not to get anything else but a Hunter original. We've never forgotten his words, even though he had been gone for a long time. We've now bought 7 of them and couldn't be happier. Uncle Ray always said the fan would outlive us and I think he's right. We've owned them for decades and have never had a problem with any of them. We'd never buy anything else!

Overpriced

All downrods seem to be completely overpriced for what they are (a piece of pipe with a hole in them). But, since they are not typically included with fans, you don't have much of a choice.
