Lots of Pros

The blocks are great, they are rounded and super smooth. They stack well and I have not had a problem with them toppling over easily or coming apart easily. Many other blocks I have interacting with actually get stuck together and are difficult to pull apart, but not these. These come apart and come together nicely, which is really good for babies. My problem is they smell. Some number 2 plastics smell a little weird, but these take the cake. I have tried washing them and the smell somehow seems worse. While I have no doubt that these blocks are safe, the smell is still bothersome to me personally (sensitive nose). While I did give these to my little ones, I don't think I'll be keeping the blocks for long because anytime I pick one up, the smell gets stuck in my nose. I am really hoping the odor fades over time but I have a feeling it won't.

Green Toys does it again!

We love these blocks! After reading a few reviews, i was very skeptical but decided to take a chance on them. I am so glad that we did! I love all of the Green Toys and these are really no exception! The blocks are large - perfect for my 14 month old. They stack together well enough for what we would be building -- we aren't creating masterpieces that took hours to build - a stack or two can be carried around the room. The blocks are a lighter weight plastic than the typical Green Toys, but I mention this is a good way. I don't think you'd want super thick, heavy blocks for your baby!!! While it is true that an older toddler might be bored with these blocks, a new stacker will love them! Also, this mom takes comfort in knowing that the blocks are PBA free and safe for my daughter -- the same isn't true of some of the other blocks on the market.

Happy with these blocks.

Perfect for my toddler. They don’t snap on like legos if that’s what you are expecting, but they stack easy. Being made out of recyclables they are a semi firm material, they are not as flimsy as some of the other reviewers have posted. Easy to clean and non toxic.

Sturdy

The size of these is nice and easy for my toddler to use. They still stack even though he didn’t quite have enough motor skills to click them together all the way.

Good size, but blocks don't fit together well

I got these blocks for my 14-month-old son as his first set of blocks. Note that the colors are different from the pictures on Amazon as of 3/15/2010. Pros: 1) large size of blocks 2) Not too heavy for littles 3) Not an overwhelming number of blocks for a beginner 4) Good variety of sizes and shapes Cons: 1) blocks don't fit together well. In fact, some don't fit together at all, which makes it quite hard for littles to build with this set. My son seems to like the set overall, but gets frustrated when he puts pieces together and they come apart a second later. I think this is an okay purchase for me given my son's age, but we will need to get other blocks in a few months when he's an expert at stacking.

He seems to like that they Are easy to knock over

My child loves these so much that we got a second set. The reviewers who say they do not stay stuck together well are correct-you cannot pick a tower up from the top or the middle to move it without pulling it apart; however, this feature is actually appealing for our child. He seems to like that they Are easy to knock over. He can turn them into something new without having to put effort into yanking them all apart. Overall, this block set is one of the most played with toys in our house.

Product Design Changed

We own an earlier version of the Green Toys block set that my son loves (yellow, burnt red and light orange). He wants to stack higher so we purchased an additional set of Green Toys 18 pieces for Christmas (sky blue, green and dark orange). And much to our disbelief, the blocks are not compatible which was the whole purpose of buying the extra set. We want to extend the life of these blocks for a toddler who is growing and wants to stack higher. If you’re a first-time buyer, then these will be fine for you. But the change in design is not eco-friendly or green at all because it makes older models incompatible. Can you imagine if Lego did that?

Great blocks for young kids!

Great blocks for the little one. Love the fact that they have rounded corners!. Colors are the same, but not same order (exp. blue ones are yellow, orange are blue, green are orange and yellow are green)!! I do like the fact that they are easy to take apart, but they could have been a bit tighter.... my son does get frustrated when it all falls apart when it just moves a little... Bought 2 sets when it was on special, so will be able to build bigger structures when he gets a bit older :) Love the fact that they are green toys, made from recycled plastic and made in the USA (I'm trying to avoid toys from countries that have no good regulations... which is very hard... but those blocks are!

Cute Blocks!

This is a Christmas present for my one-year-old son. I have purchased other Green Toys and have been happy with the quality. These blocks seem to have the same quality. They are larger than I thought, but that's ok. They have rounded edges so my little guy won't poke himself with sharp corners. I hope he likes them as much as I do. My only issue with Green Toys is I wish they had a bigger assortment of colors. I haven't looked into why they only seem to use the same few colors for everything with a little variation here and there depending on the toy. All the Green Toys I have are the same colors.

Great block set

Great block set, my 1yr old son just loves it. He is having some difficulties stacking the blocks at his age however he loves slamming them together or topping them over when i build him a high tower. Blocks are made of hard plastic, no smell of chemicals. Blocks were previous milk cartons which have been recycled. Just make sure you understand there are only 18 - 20 blocks that come with this set. Each block is about the size of an adult's hand so it is kids safe (not a choking hazard).

Was a little disappointed. I love Green Toys products. But with this one - there are not that many pieces, so it's difficult to really build anything with just one set. You would need to purchase a few to really build with it. Also they do not snap together well, so the blocks my 2 year old did put together would easily get knocked over. That frustrated him a little.
