Take a point off with the quality and packaging. Hope it lasts. Installation is somewhat straightforward. Take the top light cover off with screw in the front, like you change the light bulb. Remove the 4 screws and lose the lighting fixture. Take the air path cover and remove the two screws secure the damper unit. Wiggle and remove it. The replacement part is a tight fit. Reverse the process to complete the work. Phillips screwdriver is needed. [Note] the unit with the yellow form is the original damper unit. [Update a day later] veggie frozen issue solved. There were some occasional fan noise. Most of the time, it is quite.

Fits and works
Easy to install, saved me the burden of trashing our garage fridg. This was an easy install, just YouTube it.

This part should never break, but it gets worse
This part was purchased ironically for the opposite reason that most people buy it; the freezer was too cold (which makes sense if the flap breaks in the closed position). When that happens the water freezes inside the door. Aside from the fact that this is ridiculously priced for plastic, Styrofoam, yards of masking tape, and a the cheapest fan GE could find, this is an original part. It will fit, the wiring harness is a match. And there's one video out there that will explain it pretty well (it's the one with the woman; the only one who really explains how to do it properly). But when you see what it is, this part should never break. The old part did not use a fan, it used a simple door to let cool air from the freezer into the refrigerator. The new part (which replaces the old part) uses a fan to draw air in. However, it generates almost no volume of air, and its the cheapest, loudest fan that I've heard. It will turn on seemingly randomly and you hear that godawful buzzing. I can't imagine what GE was thinking with that design change,. Anyway, for the price of this part, and the fact that the fan doesn't add much air volume, three stars is generous. If you need it, you need it. But the fix might be worse than the problem. About the only nice thing you can say about the part is that if you paid someone to come to your house, they'd charge you full list price for the part plus $100 to come out and fix it, so there's that to consider.

The Best Fix
This kit is essential if you experience frozen lettuce on the refrigerator side of your side by side GE refrigerator/freezer. You will notice extreme temperature fluctuation on the refrigerator side even when temperature is set warmer to avoid freezing lunch meat etc. If this is your case, consider replacing the whole unit which is this part. This kit includes the damper, fan unit, gaskets for most any configuration along with the air chute and nozzle. This is by far better than trying to replace just the damper. Over time the damper door begins to stick partially open to full open in extreme cases. The main control for the refrigerator sends a signal to regulate the damper door when temperatures are too warm or too cold on the refrigerator side. The inverse is also probable when the freezer seems to work just fine but the refrigerator side never really gets below 40 or 45 degrees Fahrenheit, indicating that maybe the damper door is stuck closed. The damper door sticking open is the most common problem. Repairing the damper alone is not worth the trouble. If you have to go to all the trouble to remove the damper and fan assembly possibly breaking something in the process, replacing the whole unit at once makes a lot more sense. If you have never done this sort of repair yourself, you will learn very quickly that this kit is worth every penny you paid for it and be thankful you did not cheap out and try to replace only the damper. The entire chute is lined with form fit Styrofoam, you break it, you trashed it. Replacing just the damper and not breaking any Styrofoam in the process can be likened to brain surgery, very ticklish. Take my word for it. When I removed my damper assembly a large chunk of Styrofoam remained stuck to the back wall of the refrigerator with factory adhesive. If I did not have a complete new kit, I would have had to buy one at that point.

Functional; no GE markings
No GE markings anywhere on product, however it fit and functions as desired. My fresh food section on a GE side-by-side was freezing food in the bottom drawers. Removed the upper duct assembly and found the damper broken inside, so it was always "open" and allowing air from the freezer to be drawn in. This part fits, has a functional damper, as well as a properly-orientated DC fan. The original assembly included a cutout in the styrofoam to allow cooling air for the overhead light bulbs, which the replacement did not (see photo). I did not bother to cut the cooling channel into the replacement assembly, and it has not been a problem after a month+ of use. Photos show 1) damper, 2) fan, and 3) cooling channel cutout in the plastic housing but not in the styrofoam. Amazon shipped product without any padding in the box, resulting in some scuff marks on the plastic, however not noticeable once installed.
