Filtrete Merv 13 tight fitting

I continue to utilize the Filtrete Merv 13 due to the quality of it. However, it is not easy to install because of the super snug fit. I usually need to take a knife and crush in one corner to get it fit so that I can put the cover on it. I will continue to use this filter until I find a better one that fits with same or better quality.

Arrived in perfect condition, quiet.

No dings or bent frame on this one although it was not particularly packaged in robust fashion: just cardboard and cellophane. I replaced my MERV 8 filter with this MERV 13 Filtrete and was surprised that this new one makes less noise. The MERV 8 was relatively loud and my wife and I both expected that the finer Filtrete would be even louder, but it's whisper quiet. I hope it's doing something. :) The Filtrete has a lot tighter fit in the air duct so I had to work it in gingerly until it was fully seated. The MERV 8 was loose and needed foam shims to keep it in place. I like the tighter fit as we can have confidence that air is not finding it's way through the gaps. We are using these MERV 13's as air purifiers in case of wildfires in our area. Over the last 3 years we've seen a lot of fire activity in Northern Cal and the air quality in our area has varied wildly. Instead of buying expensive HEPA air purifiers like our friends, we're using these 3M MERV 13's to improve air quality in our house. The EPA recommends this approach so hopefully they are right.

Read actual size carefully

I have a high velocity AC system which has this size of filter. The filter that was installed was a different brand but still a 14x30x1 like this. However, the actually dimensions of the two are slightly different (i.e. 1/8" off). This made it almost impossible for us to put the filter in. Ended up squishing it slightly to make it work. We'll have to find something else after we use these two.

What is there to know it is just a furnace air filter

I was glad I could order the filter and it was on our doorstep by the end of the week since the local hardware store did not carry this size. And questions like: 1. Value for your money? - not a lot of choices on this one, I had to buy the filter that fit my HVAC unit 2. Easy to install? - has nothing to do with the filter but with the location of the filter slot on your HVAC unit 3. Presentation? - the filter came in a cardboard box. Should it have come in gold embossed presentation box?

Easy to order right size

In past I had difficulty finding this size in a local store. I was pleased to find just what I wanted in the filter quality I wanted. I reorder as needed.

After a few weeks these are almost black. I can only assume this means all of that "was" in the air. Great filters.
