OK Unable to test thoruoghly, Winter in New England, barely under 40 Degrees yet, Garage is under house, so doesn't get get super cold down here even on the worst days, as a stand by supplemental heater, it looks and feels like it will be OK. Brings temp form high 50s to comfortable in no time. One of the only affordable 220V 20Amp heaters I could find, believe me I did the research! Won't blow you out of the room, just steady, consistant heat. Others complained about the noise, not bad at all, what the heck, you're using it in a green house or garage, who cares, plants won't lose any sleep. Give it a go. First 2 weeks, and I like it, Just what I was looking for, since I had 220V 20Amp circuit already set up for compressor. I lke running it on high temp, low thermostat with great results so far. It's over 10 feet away from my workbench, and I feel it immediately'

A great little heater

This is a really great little heater. Very compact, its footprint on the floor is less than a square foot. I heat my house primarily with a propane fireplace and wanted to supplement it on cold mornings to warm the house up as we like it very cold at night. I have a 220 receptacle for a window air conditioner on a dedicated circuit so that works great for the heater. It's built very solid, throws out good heat, about 10,000 BTU on the high setting. Highly recommend it.

Watts up Doc? Good for workshop and greenhouse. UPDATE! BURNT UP twice.

HEATER STARTED ON FIRE! This is an update!!! Important. I had the first heater for about three months, came into my shop and smelled burnt electronics and plastic. Heater didn't work. I opened the top, sure enough the wiring from the thermostat was completely burnt. I contacted Dr. Heaters and they actually sent me a new one for free. Good response and good service. Now one year later, the new one completely burnt out. I happened to be in the room this time. I saw the sparking through the top cracks, lots of smoke and then it stopped. Immediately I unpluged it.and when it stopped smoking and cooled down., I took the top off again. Te entire insides are burnt, but it was obvious that the wiring failed from the thermostat. When I first had the problem, I mentioned to the company that the wirie gage looked too small for the 220 volt 20 amp service. They said it was all to specs. Which might be the case, but I've wired enough electrical systems in my life to know better. I even compared the wire with my older heater. The good news is that the wiring is contained within the top of the all metal box, so the fire is contained. I checked my circuit breaker and it was fine. So there is obviously a problem with this heater. You will notice other reviewers having a similar problem. I'd give this 3.5 stars. It does work. It has a nice compact feel and seems well built. IIt is easy to move around, but I mounted it a few feet off the ground. I'm using it in my woodworking/garage area. I wanted something with a sealed fan motor and would be easy to use compressed air to blow off the heating elements. It seems good for that. The heat settings have a low and high. But I can't tell any difference in the heat output. I even used my laser digital scale temperature detector. The fan speed as one setting. The thermostat setting works as it should and appears good. The heat is distributed by the fan. HOWEVER, this is where I feel the product could be improved. The heat seems to be pushed around but does not go very far out from the heater. I would say only about 8 feet at the most. So the heater seems to create an aura of heat but not a direct convection. It has been working, and perhaps for a greenhouse that is the type of heat you need. I've only had it for about a month of usage, but its already been below Zero Farenheit and in the low single digits for a few weeks here in N. Dakota. The heater has been able to keep my shop above freezing at 40 degrees F. in my insulated 20 x 25 foot shop. It also can produce enough heat rise, that a light fan in the garage distributes the heat around nicely. I turn it up to a higher setting when I'm in the room for any length of time. The unit does make a fan noise, which is tolerable, but again, I make a lot more noise in my using my workshop equipment. Remember this is the 3000 watt unit and requires a 220-240 volt dedicated electrical current. I liked that wattage because a 2000 watt unit isn't able to produce enough heat and 4000 watt required a larger gage wiring connection. Overall, if it continues to perform at his level. I am satified. The price was good. Shipping was fast and I feel safer with being able to keep the coils cleaned from debris and moisture.

Perfect!

Using this to keep a small 280 sq.ft. greenhouse just above freezing and does it with no problem. I just leave it on almost the lowest setting. This is in Colorado and the greenhouse isn't even sealed very well.

So far so good.

We purchased this heater to go in our homemade greenhouse that is about 10'x20'. All I can say is, so far it is working great for us. We have portioned off about half of the greenhouse with a sheet of plastic, put our starts in there and added the heater. The coldest nights so far have been a little below freezing; when checked first thing in the morning it was plenty warm enough for the starts. During the day it shuts off automatically. Our starts are doing very well. As for plugging it in - we have a window air conditioner that takes the same plug so all we did was bought an extra long cord (30 feet or so???? sorry, I was not the brains of this operation!! I just know it works!), plugged it in inside, run it out a little hole near the air conditioner and then strung it all the way to the green house. It's not a permanent solution because we are moving some time this year. If we were staying here we would have run it in to our electric panel, which would have cost us about $100 for the supplies, not including labor (our temporary method was MUCH cheaper). Thankfully we have a friend that is an electrician. If my opinion of this heater changes I will post an update.

Just what I needed for my hobby greenhouse

We'll see how it works when January comes around, but my initial impression is very good. The biggest selling point is the IPX4 rating which means it can be safely splashed with water in any direction. On top of that it is compact, easy to carry, and it looks nice. It's smaller than it looks in the photo. The two knobs are a thermostat and a fan speed. It can run fan only but air flow is relatively low so don't expect to be able to use it as cooling fan in summer. I got the 3000 watt version which requires a 240v 20 amp outlet which is not common at least in the U.S. If you don't know how to wire one, you'll need to hire an electrician to set it up. I installed an outdoor in-use outlet so the entire setup is safe in a wet environment. The 1500 watt version works with a regular U.S. household outlet but only gives you half the heating capacity. It's roughly 10,000 BTU vs 5,000 BTU. If you're not sure what you need, there are web sites with calculators where you plug in your square footage, greenhouse panel type, temperature desired, and climate information to get heating requirements.
