Compact and Durable Bike Light

I’m a fan of Cygolite. My first Cygolite was 700 lumen. Great bang for your buck. It was and still is amazing. My second was 1000 lumen. Good bang for your buck but not up to Cygolite standards. I purchased a battery for the 700 lumen and it’s back doing a great job. Unfortunately Cygolite does not make any lights with replaceable batteries anymore. Those were the dark ages! I now have the 2000 lumen Ranger. It was an impulsive buy and my thoughts were that it was probably two 1000 lumen in the same housing and I was prepared to return it if I was not satisfied. Well let me tell you I am satisfied. Though this light is not perfect it comes close. My first couple of night rides I found that there are four basic light patterns. Low, medium, high and a flash that intermittently over rides the high beam. The high beam is broader and more intense than I could have imagined. There’s a second button that controls some other patterns the best of which is the strobe designed for daytime visibility. I’ve used it on two daytime rides and found that oncoming left turning cars were stopping and yielding to me when I was 500 feet away! The Ranger works with all my other mounts both Cygolite and aftermarket’s as well as Cygolite helmet mounts.The mount is very close to being bullet proof but has trouble on contoured handlebars and smaller diameter bars for which I use a rubber shim. I compare it to the rubber band mounts on other lights that are laughable in comparison. The Ranger seems lighter than I expected and made of less durable materials than other Cygolites but so far so good. One other issue is the Ranger is bright enough to blind on coming cyclists on bike paths so you may find yourself dimming it by placing your hand over the lense. Or hitting the button. I noticed that under the street lights in my community the Ranger doesn’t perform well. I would suggest keeping the lense clean it will allow your Cygolite to utilize the best quality optics in the industry. I’m going to keep the Ranger in my saved for later list to purchase another should the price come down. I recommend this light and the Cygolite brand.

Exceptionally Long Run Times & Extremely Bright!

I’ve been using Cygolite products for over 12 years and will say they are great products. I bought this light to replace my Cygolite Trion 1300 that I’ve been using the last 6 years without any issues. The Ranger 2000 is even better because it offers longer run times, is brighter in all modes, and perfectly fits my needs because it has a nice wide lighting pattern, is extremely bright, and I only have to charge the light once at the end of the week after all my rides. Each week, I do three evening road rides averaging an hour plus each using the SteadyPulse night mode, then a 3 to 5 hour Saturday ride using the TripleFlash day mode. The TripleFlash day mode reflects off street signs up to a quarter mile away with a wide pattern and drivers see me far enough in advance. I never seen or had another light this powerful. Thank You Cygolite!

Won’t fit road bike bars 32mm

Great light but what the heck Mount won’t fit on 32mm bars. Had to remove the rubber inserts from inside of mount then it so smooth it won’t keep light in the right position, had to cut a strip from old tire tube. Still not really happy, not to sure that the thumb screw has enough threads to hold the light on secure. I sure hope so for they charge for this light and defective clamp I would hate to lose it.

Very bright and easy to use

As long as you have that mount tight enough, this light is not going anywhere. I've been using it for a couple of months now and loving it. I use it for MTB.
