definitely on the small side, but comfortable and well made

I got these shorts thinking they would be good to wear for riding my exercise bike in the summer. They do come with an attached bike short underneath, and the outside is like a running short material. It has decent sized pockets on the sides, and a drawstring in the elastic waist. However, these really run small. I take a medium, which is what I ordered, and what I got is more like a small. I can wear them, but they are very snug, especially in the waist and the bike short part. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to use them or will have to pass them on to my teenage son who is truly a size small. I was a little disappointed in the sizing discrepancy from a well-known company like Columbia. The shorts themselves are well-made, though, as you'd expect, but be aware that you need to size up in these.

Very nice, but not $60 nice.

OK, these are Columbia, so I expected a higher price. I have been quite satisfied with prior Columbia purchases. These were fine, but nothing really set them apart from shorts half the price, other than the logo. The fabric is a medium weight, so durable enough but not with enough weight that it feels heavy. The construction is fine, no faults or issues. The liner mesh fabric is not super thin, so it should last. The pockets are not zippered, but are big enough for most things, including any reasonable phone. I got the 6" inseam, which was none too short for me. I hate long inseam shorts for active wear. I got it in a medium, which is my normal pant size. They fit pretty well. If anything they might be a tad smaller than desired. Actually it is only the leg (thigh) part that seems a little tight, could have had a looser cut there for me. These took almost a month to arrive, so be prepared to wait.

Running shorts

I mainly use these shorts to run in. The compression liner is great and keeps my thighs warm during the run. The material is high quality and wicks sweat well. However, it is expensive and doesn't feel like $60 worth of shorts.

Nice, but....

Fits great and are very comfortable other than the inner lining being too tight. Wicks moisture well and are super breathable.

Nice, husband loves them

My husband has had Columbia products in the past and been very satisfied. The shorts are no different. They arrived quickly and were tagged with official Columbia branding. He is 6’2” and weighs approximately 250 pounds and these fit very well; true to size. They are soft and lightweight, and exactly what he needed for spring.

lightweight, comfortable and fits well

I own several items of Columbia clothing, so I had high expectations about these shorts. I was not disappointed! The quality is exactly what I expected. Like a lot Columbia gear, these shorts are well-made out of solid but lightweight material. The unique thing about them is that the liner is not the typical mesh one that you find in a swimsuit. It's more like a pair of boxer-briefs, which I personally love because that's my preferred style. It makes these shorts fit comfortably and still gives me tons of flexibility to move in them. Just when I thought I couldn't like Columbia stuff more, they made these and totally outdid themselves. It's a must have for guys like me who love being outdoors!

The great quality I expect from Columbia

Good pair of shorts - if you are looking for shorter pull on shorts these are a great option. Fit my son comfortably, look nice and hit him about mid thigh. He's really tall though so they may hit a little closer to the knee on other people.

Fit and comfort

The Columbia Men’s Brief Shorts for Men’s are very good and they are very comfortable and the material is very lightweight and are good for summer sports wear.
