Hold The Glasses!

I bought these to replace a set that had finally worn out after 3 years of hard use. The rubber ear piece attachment sleeves on the old strap still held the glasses but had developed tears. On one occasion the old strap kept my $800 prescription sunglasses from being torn away by an unexpectedly large wave that hit me from behind when I was tying on a lure while surf fishing. I found the glasses hanging from my neck after I was knocked off my feet and upside down by the wave. I never take the straps off of my glasses, and I often hang my sunglasses by the strap on a key hook so that the strap can dry after I wash the glasses and strap. The length of the strap can be adjusted by the slotted rubber piece on the strap so that the glasses can be drawn tight to the face or left loose enough to let the glasses hang down on the chest when they are not in use. I favor the latter method. I gave it 4 stars because I think the rubber sleeves should last a little longer. However, I should mention that even though they were slightly torn, the sleeves did not come loose, so regular inspection of the sleeves for tears should allow the user to catch the problem long before the strap fails.

great for constant on and off use

i have always folded my frames and stuck one earpiece down the front of my shirt and that generally works fine unless you bend over, then it's a big fail. i bought these because i was going on a long trip including safari in South Africa and i needed to be able to take my shades off quickly to shoot video and not have to mess with my glasses. these did the trick. i am thrilled with these for this use. i won;t use them all the time but they worked great for constant on and off demands. only downside is that junk and sweat collect on the lenses when they are off because the inside of the lenses face upwards and act like a plate against your chest.

Great Fit, good quality

I wanted an eyewear retainer that I could use daily, even when swimming. This product fits the bill. it is easy to apply, keep clean and remains very serviceable. I will repeat this purchase when I wear it out. However, that issue doesn't appear to be necessary for the foreseeable future.

Great leash

Needless to say, only the truly clueless would not thoroughly clean the ends of you sunglasses with Windex before putting this leash on. Great color choice, reasonable price, and these truly work as intended, will buy again.

Grips well, but not the right material for me

This did the job as promised—they held my glasses in place. But. I bought them to replace glass holders that were completely useless because my reading glasses kept slipping out of them, so these were initially a vast improvement. But the cord is stiff and didn't suit my purposes because it didn't feel comfortable behind my ears. Especially as I often wear earphones several hours each day to listen to audiobooks, and the earphones pressed the cord against my skull and was really irritating. I replaced these with the cotton model and am much happier. Same strong grip, but soft material.

Bit too small in length to be practical

This strap doesn’t look to bad, but it’s too small — if you have a ponytail or even just curlier hair (like I do) it’s a pain to get on and off your head. If you have short hair and a small skull then this probably won’t be an issue! The other Chums strap (fabric style) is far better, so I recommend that one!
