Pretty, but LAMPSHADE IS NOT GLASS

This is a beautiful lamp, both the base and the shade. The base is nice and heavy, to prevent it falling over. I was very concerned about tipping, because glass is heavy, making it top-heavy. Turns out it's not a problem because the product description is wrong and the SHADE IS NOT GLASS. It's PLASTIC that has been assembled to resemble glass. So on the one hand, I don't have to worry about it breaking, but on the other, plastic will not hold up the same way glass will. Over time, I expect it to distort. It would also warp if you use regular light bulbs that give off a lot of heat. Also, the red ink from the plastic bag the shade was wrapped in transferred onto the plastic and I had mirror image red print on my shade. Fortunately, the ink was alcohol-soluble, and I managed to get it off without damaging the shade. Overall, it's a very pretty lamp, and I would consider getting more. But given that the shade is plastic, not glass though, I think it's overpriced.
