Not big enough and it warped on first use.
UPDATE: Review still stands, but I improved the rating from 1 to 3 stars because the original shape returned when the sheet cooled and it hasn't warped since. It's still the wrong size for your basic BBQ grill, but at least it's not warped and useless. ORIGINAL REVIEW FOLLOWS: I spent the time properly seasoning this griddle. Both sides. I've done this before. It seasoned up just fine and that's why it gets a star. Otherwise? Waste of money for what you get. It's just a piece of sheet metal with a bend on one edge (probably designed to help withstand the inevitable bending and warping). The thing works by resting on the cooking surface of the BBQ, which means it sits a full three inches above the heating elements (my Weber gas grill has a cooking surface of enameled cast iron). It holds a nice even heat and maybe that helped this thing work a little better for me that it may have for someone with a thinner cooking surface. I had to run my BBQ on high on all three elements to get this thing hot enough to cook hamburger meat to a more than gray color. Because the surface area does not completely cover the cooking surface of the BBQ, and because the griddle has no anchors, it moves around when you use it and, obviously, it's hard to deal with a flat, greasy griddle that slides around on top of a grill that has exposed cooking surface. Especially when you have a long beard. But the real problem was the sheet warped the first time I took it up to heat that was hot enough to fry burgers. Just plain thin steel warping from average cooking heat. Not my fault. It still works, for what it does, but it's not a nice flat surface and never will be one again. And this damage was the result of basic, intended use -- THE FIRST TIME IT WAS USED. So, you live and learn. A guy selling a piece of sheet metal for $40 is probably ripping you off to a certain extent, although you have to be dumb enough to believe what he's selling will work. Seller: You could, at least, get the surface area measurement of consumer-grade grills, and size these things accordingly -- dimensions are pretty standard from one maker to the next. Bottom-line: This product was NOT worth the money.

Great addition for the grill
Love this--works well for various foods on the grill, but especially for "smashed" burgers.

This will change your view of grilling
I have been looking at some of the grill-top cookers for sale, such as the Blackstones. A friend has been crowing about his, but I did not want to purchase another gas-fire grill since I have a perfectly one. So, I purchased this griddle top for my gas grill. It is truly important to take the time to cure it and condition the metal. It's also important to follow the recommended maintenance procedures after you use it, but I guarantee, if you do, this will become your go-to device for breakfast, lunch and dinner!!! All those wonderfully tasty things a short-order cook can prepare in your favorite diner are now within your power. I got a couple of metal egg rings, and some specialized griddle tools, and I'm in heaven!! Breakfast of bacon, eggs and fried bread is to die for. Pancakes become a work of love. A little spritz of olive or cannola oil, and you are ready to rock. This should come with a warning, however, that once you really master it, this griddle is the ONLY place you will want to cook.....summer or winter.

Makes a tasty burger
Got it for our Weber genesis for burgers. Makes an incredible crusted smash burger. I’ve use it to seat streaks also. Seasoning was a little bit of a pain but even a black stone needs to be seasoned. Mines on natural gas so running out of gas wasn’t a problem

This thing is heavy-duty!
I bought this to add to my grill to make half of it grates and the other half a flat top griddle. I have always wanted to make my own smash burgers and it seemed like having a flat top griddle was the thing to have to make that possible. I am super happy with the quality and burgers I have cooked so far with it. This thing is super heavy-duty! I’ll have to figure out a better method of cleaning it so I don’t scratch it too badly trying to scrape the remains off - even though this thing can take a good scraping! Super happy with this griddle and I recommend it to anyone who can add it to their grilling setup!

A nice addition to my gas grill, but, it warps when heated.
I like the griddle -- it's a great addition to my gas grill. Fits well on my Char-Broil grill. Heats well. Seasoned up nicely. In particular, I like to doing steaks, chicken, and chops on it. The high heat possible gives a nice brown crust to the meat. And because you're not directly over a flame, there are no flare-ups. I like it. One issue -- and a big one -- the metal warps when it gets very hot, and one corner lifts off the grill surface. I'm pretty sure the heat dissipates from that lifted edge, so heat distribution is then uneven. The warping disappears once the griddle has cooled back down.

It's the best Carbon Steel griddle on Amazon
I did a lot of research before buying the Char-Broil 1446552R04 Carbon-Steel Griddle. I wanted carbon steel, I wanted thick gauge steel, large, easy to weld, and I needed it to be relatively cheap. This item fit the bill. I bought it, and modified it, creating walls on each side. The grill will warp if you heat it up and then put a lot of cold food on it at once. But it will straight itself out once it warms up or cools down again. The griddle comes a bit rough, and likely has a protective layer to prevent it from rusting. I used an angle grinder and wire wheel to remove the top layer. After that, you have to clean and season it. Bacon grease, onions, potatoes does the job. The more you use this, the smoother and non-stick it becomes. I coated all surfaces (under as well) with oil and now it has a protective coating around it. I don't see rust being a problem. All my pans are carbon steel (DeBuyer and Matfer).

Warped immediately
This product warped as soon as it got hot. This lifted the grill off the BBQ and would not get hot. It is not a suitable item for high heat use.
