Good Blower, Terrible Battery Life

The leaf blower works great. It’s convenient not to drag a cord around the yard, but now I’m replacing batteries every 10 minutes (if I’m lucky). Other reviews have stated this concern also. Make sure you have backup batteries charged and ready to replace, when the other one taps out.

Works well with a FULLY charged battery

I was ready to return this used unit after turning it on and it would only run for about two to five seconds at a time. I then waited for its battery to fully charge and found it lasts for about 7-9 minutes on the lighter setting and about 2-3 minutes at full blast. A bit disappointing, but I already have other 20V batteries from Black and Decker devices, so I’m sticking with it. I’ve also tried some of my neighbor’s battery-powered leaf blowers, and it’s about on par with them.

Does the job

It works well and I appreciate that it’s cordless. The battery life on this at full power is probably less than 5 min. Probably 10 min on the lower power setting. It works well for blowing the pine straw and leaves off our long driveway and I’m glad I don’t have to mess with an extension cord. But I wish the battery lasted longer. Also, it’s a bit heavy. I don’t notice it while using it, but my forearm and elbow are definitely sore after using it.

Great equipment

That it worked just as good as my Black & Decker weed eater does. That’s why I wanted a Black & Decker leaf blower when I found a battery operated one.

Battery ONLY works for 4-5 min.s maybe then gets HOT

I like the concept and freedom to walk around with the blower but it dies out in 3-5 min.s on a fully charged battery. Apparently other reviews that I did not see say the same so you can't use it very long. Disappointing but one review says 3amp battery might work longer ( another 70.00). Otherwise love the little thing. I thought it was broken or defective until I started reading all the other reviews.

Bad thermal switch?

I have the same exact problem with this leaf blower as another reviewer did. Here’s what was said: “ This leaf blower is a huge improvement over the anemic older model (with the horizontal blower fan. It's great on hard surfaces and even powerful enough for blowing dry leaves into piles on smaller lawns. However it has what I think may be a thermal problem using it at high speed. It runs fine on low speed, but especially in warm weather it runs for only a few seconds on high speed before shutting off. If powered off for a few seconds and turned back on, it will again run but shut off again. But if switched on to low power, it then runs fine. I find this happens with 4 different batteries, even when fully charged. There must be a temp sensor that thinks it is overheating. If it weren't for that issue, I would give this blower 5 stars.” My exact same results.

Everything others say about the battery life being unacceptable is an understatement and true. I have an B&D weed eater with the same battery and they are even worse than the leaf blower battery, only last about a minute. However work great in the weed eater.

Battery would not snap into place.

Product works just fine...after I spent an hour shaving plastic off the battery slot so that the battery could snap into place properly. I have never had this problem with my other 20V Black & Decker tools. Otherwise, I would have given this machine higher marks overall.
