Very, very hard/firm but fits crib very well.

Very well made but very, very firm. I felt guilty putting my 2 year old to sleep on it. One side is supposed to be firmer for infant and one side softer for toddler but both are so firm could hardly tell the difference. Very hard!

BeautySleep standard crib/toddler mattress

Update: my daughter has been sleeping in her crib for 3 months now and so far this mattress is working out perfectly. She easily sleeps 9-12 hours straight, which tells me that it's comfortable. The mattress has held its shape and feels as firm as the first day. I keep a fitted waterproof sheet and a fleece or cotton fitted sheet over it. -------- I bought this mattress because of the breathable fabric material as opposed to the cheaper plastic mattresses out there. This mattress is really HARD and that is my only concern; the foam surface is really inflexible, somewhat like those green foam blocks you use with artificial flowers. I laid on it and did not sink at all, which after all is what is recommended for infants, an even firm surface. I'm keeping it because it looks well made, from the materials to the design. It arrived inside a nice zipper bag in a large box. The mattress is odorless and has square corners, not rounded like most mattresses. The fabric doesn't seem to be waterproof. Unless the underside of the fabric is waterproof-lined, I suggest you use a waterproof pad or protector, which is what I'm planning on. I think a cottony fleece or quilted crib sheet would complement this mattress perfectly. Both baby and toddler sides are identical, which is not a big deal for me as I am not planning on using a toddler bed. This mattress fits perfectly in a standard crib. There are no gaps whatsoever; that was my main concern when looking for a mattress. Overall this is a really nice mattress for the price. I'll have to wait for my baby to arrive and see how well this mattress works out for her.

Perfect crib mattress

I bought this mattress for my son after a lot of research. I decided that I wanted one with a cover made of natural fibers, that was Greenguard certified, that wasn't waterproof (more on that later), and was less than $100. This mattress rocks all those areas! I didn't want waterproof because I'd read that in the mattresses I could afford, the waterproofing material was potentially toxic plus it can cause sweating and rustle when putting kids to bed which is obviously not something you want when you've just spent an hour trying to get the child asleep. I have opted to use several old bath towels (four layers seems to work pretty well) under the sheet. So far, we've had pee and vomit that soaked through the towels (it used to be 3 layers.) I blot the spot as soon as I find it, wipe with soapy water, blot dry again, and put baking soda on it and let it sit, preferably in the sun, until dry. I then vacuum up the baking soda using the brush attachment and put the bedding back on. This system works great and I've not ever noticed a smell or stain.

Seems Like Nice mattress, but arrived with black pills/dirt on it

I bought this mattress because it is green guard certified and made from organic ingredients. The mattress arrived promptly, and in a sealed plastic zippered bag. However, upon opening the mattress there are dark pills/dirt all over the surface. I assume this is due to the soy based foam/fabrics , but its still frustrating because it looks like it got drug through a dirty warehouse prior to be shipped out. We're keeping it, since its too much trouble to return an item so large and from reading other comments it seems other reviewers have had similar issues. No odd smells and it seems to be in good condition otherwise, just frustrating since it doesn't exactly look "brand new". Mattress has yet to be used, so no comments there, yet.

Grandma & Grandpas gift for baby

I’m disappointed because this item arrived ripped. I asked my son to send it back because I bought it as a gift as they prepare for their first born child. He’s concerned about it ending up in the landfill so he said he would sew it And put a mattress cover and sheet over it and it will do. I’m not happy that I spent this money and received an imperfect mattress.

Excellent mattress with the following features that matter most to us - • FIRMNESS – The first and most important thing that parents should realize is that babies need a firm surface to sleep, unlike adults. Adults may develop varying preferences over the years – even though I believe to prevent back aches it is better to choose firm mattresses for adults as well. This mattress maintains firmness even with regular use. • DOES NOT GET WARM – The mattress does not get warm even if the child is sleeping for a long time, suggesting that the fabric and material used is good quality and keeps children in mind. • EASY TO CLEAN – Till date, we have been able to easily clean it up in case of leakages. We are very satisfied with the purchase and would highly recommend. Hope this is helpful!

I think this is a great mattress, especially for the price

I have two of these, one I've had for almost three years for my toddler and the one I just ordered for my infant. I think this is a great mattress, especially for the price. It has held up very well and is "super comfy" as my 2 year old puts It! I give it 4 stars and not 5 because it says it's two sided, a firmer one for baby and a softer side for toddlers, but I cannot determine which side is which by feel. It is labeled, but I feel I should be able to feel a distinct difference between the sides and I don't really.
